LaegerEliminator
I have to disagree with the ford having the most reliable trans. I worked in a Transmission shop/core warehouse before remodeling and their better then the dodge, but no where near as stout as the Allison. There's no question about the quality and durability of an Allison. I'm pretty certain that most reputable diesel performance shops will tell you the same thing, a stock Ford tranny will hold up to higher torque and power numbers behind performance motor then the Allison will. I fucked my Allison with just tunes. They were some pretty "hot" tunes, but it didn't like them either way. I want to say the trans went after 30k miles with efi live installed. Truck had 110k miles on it when I got rid of it.

Bennett131
Gotcha. Improper tuning, even on a lower power out put can fubar things too. Yes it can. Also anyone with clues will tell you not to run any tune higher than 100 hp on a stock Allison(give or take) they won't hold up no matter who tunes them. After I fried the trans I had it built for 4600 dolla. Thing was bullet proof after that. I do agree that the trans in my 6.0 ford never skipped a beat, and that truck had more fun stuff on it. Bennett131
We just agreed on something???!!!By accident lol. Nah it is what it is. All of my friends (myself included) have had to upgrade our Allison trans. I didn't have my 6.0 for a very long time, but it never gave me any trans problems and the truck ran awesome. You can literally feel the Alison slip in the higher gears.
sheerider11
This is the same thing I've been saying! I've been back and forth on this for a long while as most know. I will say that you can have all that old nonsense with all the rattle, all the shake, all the noise, all the bs. I fucking HATE spending money but after dragging that shit pile around last weekend with a late model rig it solidified the fact that my junk was just that. And call me a trader, but this fucker puts every Ford to shame in fit, finish, and options. In the words of loco..... new shit FTW Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk The gmc Sierra is the nicest truck. Inside and out. Before I got my truck I went to all the dealers. I only went for the 150/1500 series but I settled for the Silverado because the gmc was to much and the other ones sucked. Also Chevy had the best deal going on. trickedcarbine
There's no question about the quality and durability of an Allison. I'm pretty certain that most reputable diesel performance shops will tell you the same thing, a stock Ford tranny will hold up to higher torque and power numbers behind performance motor then the Allison will. What shops? As a core buyer, I beg to differ without some hard facts to show otherwise. If that were the case why would I see 10-12 ford grenades to every Allison? If what you say is legit, that would mean ford is selling at least 10 trucks to every GM. And we both know that ain't happening. Not trying to bicker, just sharing my actual experience from a warehouse with over 2,500 cores on the shelf and tens of thousands of parts from previously torn down cores. The Allison parts were like Unicorns up till about 5 years ago when the whole Bro diesel thing took off and kids were grenading them with over 500hp 6-700ft lbs at the tire.
ATVridinMaNiAc
Because ford owners are more likely to be a fucktard and not take care of their shit. Along with overtuning the engine for the trans. The power chokes and super doody trucks are like ricers of the truck world and more common to get fucked with compared to GM trucks. Thats why you saw more. Plus there is more fords out there anyways... You are going to need a lot more numbers to make that comparison factual other than just i saw more grenaded in the warehouse. Damn v8 diesels and their flaspy loose beef curtains queefing sound they make. Edited June 11, 2016 by ATVridinMaNiAc
