Mrtaterman
hey, i am replacing my stator. its bad. just wondering if i should also get an adjustable timing plate while i'm at this point. when you change your timing +/- typically what changes along with of course the timing, i am assuming jetting will also have to be changed? thanks for everyones help in advance! sheerider11
Get it. Just timing changes. DO NOT GET A RICKY,RM,RICKS,ELECTROSPORT or what ever other knock off cheap ass stator are out there.

sheerider11
Oem is the best. There really is no substitute. There is a member that used to rewind them. They pop up every now and then. But oem will be your best bet.
J-Madd
Like mentioned. OEM is best. It may require a tad more fuel with advanced timing. And I don't even know why timing plates have - timing.
Atomic Monkey
Wobble the holes on the stock plate, plenty of threads about it. Save your money for the next rebuild if what you have is not enough....
tfaith08
Make sure those timing plate bolts are clean and tight. Mine backed out on me and I had more power than ever before, but it also spun to full advance and I ended up with pitted pistons.
lil Doobie420
timing plate is mainly for advancing the timing when running diffrent fules.. if u gey one dont put ot past 4 for running pump gas. the head must be setup right for running diffrent fule also. so dont think just cuase u have a timing plate that u can run 110 or alky lol

lil Doobie420
nobody said anything about breaking his budget. u just wanna say how u would do it. u can mod the stocker theres nothing wrong with it if u keep it stock ish and run 93. i used mine for a while like that and took me 5min to drill it
Atomic Monkey
What else does this mean beside it will break your budget. It meant to try advancing with the stock plate to get a result because it sounds like the op is ready to try things. If the result is not what is expected... as in what you have at that point, there is no money wasted. As far as a budget goes... is there such a thing when it comes to working on these things? Lol! mike0chek
I personally am for modding shit, but if a cheap timing plate make a difference in a budget, stop now. Plus with a billet one, you get timing marks, something you don't with modding a stocker. ^another reason to buy the proper plate, not guessing the degrees. i ran a modded plate for years, but as soon as my stator crapped out i spent the little extra for a billet one.
