ClaudeMachining
Tricked I thought ti wasn't a good idea cause ti flexes? From what I've been told. Just google titanium stress/strain curves.
trickedcarbine
Just google titanium stress/strain curves. Will do. What's your take on Ti suspension parts.
ClaudeMachining
Ti is a very nice alloy. Very strong with the weight of aluminium. But i think it's a bitch to work with (weld or cnc). I dont, myslef, had to work with Ti but that's what i heard. Maybe someone who worked with Ti will put his 2 cents. I still have nightmare about Dural, who is a very nice aluminium alloy, but was a bitch to pour, cast, weld, cnc, name it! Maybe Ti alloy fall in that category, if so, if you're not in aeronautic or F1 racing, it probably doesnt worth the trouble.
Dookernobbin
So depending on the alloy of titanium it's going to determine its qualities, ask the person for a copy of there mil test report, that will give you a better idea of its hardness. I spoke to a guy at a fab shop about making some to my specs, I had to get a copy of the mil test report from a company that makes titanium racing parts in order for him to use the best alloy. In general titanium is half the weight of steel and 10 times harder, never more flexible. Some exceptions apply.
Dookernobbin
Titanium is also heavier than aluminum....
ClaudeMachining
Mill Test Report (MTR) is a little bit overkill. It's not like if you were pouring your Ti alloy yourself. Usually it's easy to have the spec sheet available (strain/strengh curves etc)

ClaudeMachining
Titanium is also heavier than aluminum.... Yeah... Steel is about 8g/cc, Alu is about 2.7gr/cc and Ti about 4gr/cc

ClaudeMachining
I just don't get why the OP wants TI a-arms and swingarm (not cheap) but isn't willing to spend money on a nice chassis instead of the shit stock one. you are right, but different strokes for different folks i guess ;-)
