Cross Country Woes

I building a banshee from ground up. Im leaning towards a

cross country set up. Because it seems like thats pretty much my

style of riding.Ill probly enter a race or 2. I wuold like to know what motor set up would be best

a 370 longrod,370 stroker or both or should I run a big bore 400 or 420?

Or what ever?

I might be able to get my paws on a rz 350 power valve setup with acc. Whould this be better to run? what setup would be best for these cylinders? Is there a lot of trouble shooting (problems) with these power valves?

Ill be assembling the motor myself.

On the chasis set up I have +2 1 f Denton J arms .

on the rear I have a +2 lonestar swing arm is this good to run

on a cross country quad? Or is stock length better or a -1 -2?

Shocks Im not deciding on until I figure out how much motor I have?

As far as motor, broad HP instead of peak HP. The RZ cylinders make the powerband alot more useful, greatly cuts down on tire spin. It will hook up alot better. The stroker might not be a bad idea also(I just have no experience with one). I have heard that they make alot of low end torque. Maybe a combo of the stroker with powervalves will work good. You just don't want the motor to tire you out.

 

As far as chassis go, 46" seems to be the width to shoot for. I have thought about using a wheel with less dish and the +2+1, I just don't know how well that works(beats buying arms again). And you can always have the shocks built for that set up.

 

I would say that the +2 swingarm is not the best set up, but if it's already on there, give it a try. Although I have not used mine yet, the -1,-2 length arms seem like they would hook up alot better.

 

I have had no reliability issues with the RZ powervalves at all. They motor has been completely maintenance free. That's just my experiences and some of that is completely in theory, but I'm sure I will be corrected if any of it is wrong.
