Dunatic619
Glad it seems to be coming to a fix. You going to hit up HJR and see what he has to say about the stroke being off?
Lowroll
I called him, no answer so I left a voice mail, hopefully he'll call me back tomorrow but in the past I've found he doesn't call back, so I have to text him to get an answer. Lowroll
Regardless though, yes, I'm going to start with him and see what he's willing to do before just buying domes Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
Dunatic619
Sucks you're going thru this. I had a great experience. But he's local to me, so I was able to drop off bike and pick up done. Got a 4ml mx port with matching cases. I did specify, HR cranks, And saw the crank being put in cases. My junk rips! Hopefully yours will soon as well. GL man.
Lowroll
I honestly wish at this point that I had shipped the whole engine to him so that A. My case transfers could be matched B. He could have assembled the engine and any issues would have been found then Live and learn though. What this experience has taught me is invaluable Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk

Lowroll
Man this forum has been awesome. Without you guys I wouldn't have tore into my engine. I thought my shit was badass as is, I can't wait to see what happens with more compression and some dyno time. Also going to change my Gearing, most likely back to stock Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
trickedcarbine
It's amazing what all the little details add up to.
n2otoofast4u
And we found the issue. We measured the stroke of the engine, 57.81mm, so it's only a 3.81mm stroker which is the .019 I'm currently off. Surf jag told me to check that out and sure enough. So.... Until I'm ready to buy a HR crank and change cylinders I'm going to roll with what I have and have new domes cut to work with what I currently have Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk HOLD ON......... So the rod pin is not properly located on the wheel?????
Lowroll
HOLD ON......... So the rod pin is not properly located on the wheel?????I'm waiting for Kevin to call me back and see what he has to say. I doubt many of his customers are as specific as I am. As a rifle reloader, I care about sub-thousandth accuracy. So when I found out I was 20 thou off that was huge Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
Lowroll
a crank stroke off by that much isnt normal and shouldnt happenI agree, and it concerns me. It'll be at least 40 minutes before I can even talk to him. I might have to put the jugs back on tonight and take pictures of my dimensions to show its off. Hopefully he's willing to work with me
trickedcarbine
Kinda makes ya wonder if it's even phased right... Another concern. You mentioned your base gasket had quite the variance. I think you are saving the cylinder bores from uneven wear by fixing that alone. Maybe sleeper or Surf have other tips for this as well. But when I assemble a motor for good. I drop the jugs on, and only finger tighten them to where everythig makes contact with the gasket. Then put the head on and step torque it evenly to the jugs. Next, torque the accessable base nuts evenly. The nuts under the exhaust can be tricky but fall in to place if every thing else is torqued adequately. Lowroll
Looking for some input, when I do speak with him, do I ask him to replace the crank? I mean I'll ship this one back to him Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
Surfrjag
tell him whats going on and your concerns, then see what he wants to do to fix it... he should make it right no if ands or buts about it since your not happy and I wouldn't be either. I think he should take his crank back and send you a hotrod crank, even if he wants you to pay the difference in the cranks but I would try and get gaskets and orings on him since you had to go thru this. if this issue is what it appears to be It was a waist of time for you but I guess its lesson learned. maybe kevin can take a lesson from it too! I mean from what you told me, your not winning like all his other motors in his bold statement not even against 450's like he promised you. Lowroll
So he just text me, told me that I could remove the base gasket to fix the squish? Which sounds a little crazy to me. He also told me where to set my timing but that seems irrelevant for the issue at hand as I didn't mention that in my voice-mail. Waiting on a response. I told him about the cranks stroke being short, he says the domes should have provided a .055 squish, and the cranks lack of stroke is exactly the difference in my squish and what he said it should have been.
