Lowroll
Sounds good. I really appreciate all the input. As soon as I get home I'll pull the jugs and try to get some answers tonight. Even if I'm unable to call Kevin or cam, I'll atleast be able to post here and see what the concensus is Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
trickedcarbine
tricked I said before its not going to tell you anything. what if he changed the exhaust port floor or what if he didn't.. you don't knowI'm aware you said that.... But I posted exactley why I said to check it. If the piston is already protruding in to the exhaust, then it wouldn't be a good idea to go messing with the base gasket and lowering the cylinder. But if the piston is below the exhaust, and you're not disturbing the piston/transfers much then you know you got some room to work with thinner base gaskets. You're correct about not knowing what he did with the exhaust, but I've seen a dune port and a couple MX/hardcore ports from him and they leveled out. So to me this set up is quirky from the second he said the piston is lower, as I've seen several of Kevin's set ups and they sat flush. Lowroll
Tricked, I will get that number for you tonight. I also feel as though I might be able to go to a thinner base seeing as my piston sits lower than the port at bdc. Aside from that measurement, and the base, what else should I measure Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
trickedcarbine
Before ordering any domes if you have to.... You will wanna mock the cylinders up on whichever base gasket you decide to run. That way the cylinders are situated where they need to be so you can get an accurate deck height. (Distance between piston edge and cylinder deck) It's totally possible you can run a different base gasket and continue on with those domes(doubtful IMO), but I think everyone agrees that the gasket is the first thing that needs to be addressed. If it's already to thin to lower it, then you have a lot more work to do.

trickedcarbine
MY CUSTOMERS WIN AT ALL THE TRACKS.Honestly, IMO (here comes the flame) the last HJR motor I saw that ran the way it should was Dajoger's. It was piloted to victory many years ago.
sheerider11
Bro you live 2.5 away from Justin. Load up the bike, load up the cooler, and pay someone that knows what there doing and can do it right in front of you. If anything ever happens you can go back. Hjr is literally on the other side of the country

Lowroll
No doubt about that. I'll shoot him a text and see when he could help me out. I could possibly go this Sunday if he was free. My weekends are pretty loaded Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk

Lowroll
Okay, I have some numbers. My bore is 64.3 My pistons sit .065 above the deck My pistons drop roughly .005 below the exhaust port (it was hard to measure with accuracy) And depending on where I measure the base gasket it shows anywhere between .019 & .029 Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
Lowroll
And we found the issue. We measured the stroke of the engine, 57.81mm, so it's only a 3.81mm stroker which is the .019 I'm currently off. Surf jag told me to check that out and sure enough. So.... Until I'm ready to buy a HR crank and change cylinders I'm going to roll with what I have and have new domes cut to work with what I currently have Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
