RollinRhino
When you get it apart finally, please post pics of the rods.....I'm curious now.
ShrpShooter
Hmmm interesting, well... Maybe it wasn't my fault lol who knows, but I should have used my torque wrench and I wouldn't be in this situation. I'll get her torn apart tomorrow, the engine was all done for the most part except for that flywheel nut. FML
ShrpShooter
I do know I shouldn't have laid into the impact gun for as long as I did though, so I'm sure it was my fault either way and not a problem with the crank. Definitely weird how it snapped the crank instead of stripping the threads on ether the crank or flywheel nut first though. Kevin at HJR is awesome though, had my parts out to me right away, answers my texts right back (hope I wasn't annoying him lol), seemed like an all around great person to deal with, and offered to fix my crank for free when I over torqued it. Bennett131
I wonder how long it would have held up if you hadn't of broke it...

Nightmare
I've taken the flywheel off with a 1/2 inch impact before. And its actually a Wang crank.

ShrpShooter
Hmm... I remember him telling me on the phone that he builds the cranks from the same parts that the rest of the crank manufacturers use.
trickedcarbine
plz let us know what is printed on the rods when you take it out Doesn't matter what the rod is. If it's not a Hot Rods, it's built using at least Wang core parts. IE. center section and webs. I believe he was at least using different rods. n2otoofast4u
It makes zero sense to me that it actually pulled the snout off the crank. I could see it pulling the threads off the end MAYBE. But Id sure hope that anyone with a sense of shit would realize its getting awfully tight far before the treads let go. The fact that it PULLED the end off would lead me to believe that there is something faulty in the material. On a direct pull like that it should take FAR more pull than what any brand of impact has, and it should take FAR more pull than what the threads would withstand.
