locogato11283
I don't care who you are or where you're riding, you don't need 125HP in the "trails." The purpose of a big motor is so you can use that power to your advantage. Unless you're running the most gear possible and the biggest tire possible, you're not using the motor to its full potential. That said, anything more than a 10mm Serval/Super Serval for trails/fireroads/etc is a waste. You will never put the power to use.

locogato11283
In most race applications I would say bigger is better as long as you can get the power down. In half mile oval for example, if you can run a bigger tire and gear than your competition, you'll likely have a huge advantage. If there are 100HP motors running high 3s or low 4s in 300', do you really think you need 125HP to go fast in the trails? Setup is most always more important than how much power you have. bluebanshee98
I have been meaning to shoot you a message to see what your thoughts were on this. Haven't you been trail riding a 10mm DM for like 3/4 seasons? How long can you ride before it needs a rest?We don't have real dunes out here so yes I have been trail riding it. I can lug the bike around no problem. Power seems to be always there. How long really depends on how much air your getting through the radiator. I run engine ice with chariot oversized impeller and oversize radiator. Bike is set a little rich as well. The key is to just keep an eye on how hot it really is. Naturally if your revving the piss out of the motor and not moving anywhere any engine is going to get hot. I like the motor a heck of a lot better then I did my 4 mil that I had. Gas mileage was better on the 4mm but overall power is much better on the 10. Pick your poison

Big Mike NY
Fwiw I got a quote from Redline for a 7mil motor complete tear down and rebuild bottom to top all bells whistles chips and dip, utilizing my stock cylinders for under $3k. When I'm ready the motor will either go to him or I might keep it local and have Sleeper06 build my 7mil with stock cylinders as I'm all about the sleeper look as well!
