steeler2169 Posted August 29, 2015 Report Posted August 29, 2015 Can you sync carbs with tool while choke is on. I ask this because I just got done with full rebuild and it won't idle with choke off. So I haven't even been able to do proper break in. I wanted to sync carbs first then do break in but right side carb is at 1.5 and left is at 6, is that because I'm trying to sync with choke on. camp0429 Posted August 29, 2015 Report Posted August 29, 2015 You need to figure out why it wont idle on its own first Quote
trickedcarbine Posted August 29, 2015 Report Posted August 29, 2015 ^That. Get it jetted correctly for it to actually run with out the choke when it's warmed up a bit. Quote

90Bansheedude Posted August 29, 2015 Report Posted August 29, 2015 sync them by eye first, so the slides open and close at the exact same time, watch when they just barely go past the top of the carb opening on WOT (bike off of course), so they are somewhat close, then clean or rejet or find air leak etc then use the tool when its running good. You can get it running good without the tool. Quote
trickedcarbine Posted August 29, 2015 Report Posted August 29, 2015 ^ yep, get them close then run the tool. I like to set them with feeler gauges and then run the gauge. 1 Quote
willaduncan Posted August 29, 2015 Report Posted August 29, 2015 Use the windows to sync by eye then fine tune with the tool Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
90Bansheedude Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 The windows on mine are so old and clouded over i cant see anything in them, so i have to look down the bore of the carb itself after taking the air filters off. If you had an airbox on, that might be kind of hard though. Quote
willaduncan Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 Clean the windows as best as possible... Use a flashlight I've never seen one so bad you can't use some light to make the window usable Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
90Bansheedude Posted September 1, 2015 Report Posted September 1, 2015 lol, they are pretty crappy, but its should be the same as looking at the bottom of the slides compared to the top of the bores looking down the carbs, shouldn't it? Thats easier anyways cause i can see them both while moving the throttle. After using the vac sync tool though the left side is maybe 1mm lower than the right when Wide open to get even vac on the tool mid throttle. Quote
