Ron Burgandy
Is this normal? It slightly rubs against the clutch cover but spins freely. The bearing seems to be fine when I spin it by hand. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Edited August 28, 2015 by Ron Burgandy
trickedcarbine
Yep.
Ron Burgandy
Ok so my banshees overheating. And I thought for sure it was my impeller so I did this and it seems to be ok. Spins ok. Poured water through the radiator and it flowed though the hoses so it shouldn't be clogged. My jetting is pretty spot on and I've never had overheating problems even when I was racing it years ago Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
trickedcarbine
Over heating or bubbling coolant out the overflow? It could be a failing head gasket pressurizing the coolant system.
Ron Burgandy
It's overheating. The engine gets super hot and boils over quick. My friend things it's a gasket but I've had my coolhead on for years and it ran good no problem. Unless it somehow the o ring wore out. Ron Burgandy
Re torque the head and see or just take it off? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
trickedcarbine
Take it off and have a new o ring kit ready. Is it idling really high all of a sudden? Showing wet plugs? Burning plugs?
Ron Burgandy
Not at all its running great. Yea Ill order another o ring kit for the head than. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
rzresurrection
If you've ruled out the cooling system (impeller, plugged rad, low coolant etc). Then it has to be excessive heat generation. Excessive heat from a lean condition - air leak somewhere. I'd leak test it before you pull the head. You need the head on to leak test it anyways, so leave it on and pressurize it. My guess is that it won't be the head. Typically you'd get coolant out the overflow if it was.
Ron Burgandy
I'll try that. But wouldn't it run bad if it had an air leak? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
camp0429
How soon after it's been running does it overflow? I had a stock head gasket fail, bike ran great and all would idle all day and not puke coolant, normal easy riding it was fine but as soon as I would get in a good pull it would dump coolant out the overflow. rzresurrection
Are you saying that it overflows coolant? Edited August 29, 2015 by rzresurrection
Ron Burgandy
Riding for about 15 minutes and it starts to over heat. It leaks onto my pipes I'm not sure exactly where it's coming from. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
rzresurrection
Oh, ok. If it's puking coolant then you are pressurizing the coolant system and odds are its coming from the overflow.
rzresurrection
Most likely a head oring issue causing your cooling leak Question is why did the oring fail? You can change the orings out, but do a leakdown test afterwards to make sure that you didn't develop an air leak somewhere that caused the engine to run hot, overheat and kill the orings on the head.
