Dennisw Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 Running 300 mains I got t4 head pipes pro core silencers stocks carbs no air box and 65.5 bore and 30 pilots but it doesn't like to take throttle and takes it a sec to un-rev Quote
oldskool Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 You might want to do a leakdown test. I'm guessing when you say un-rev, you mean idle down. An airleak or too small pilot can cause this. I dont believe your pulot is too small at 30. To get carbs jetted properly, you need to eliminate any airleaks. Intakes are notorious for leaks. 1 Quote
Dennisw Posted August 21, 2015 Author Report Posted August 21, 2015 It had 25s in it and run fine but it wasn't really smoking on startup and those pilots come with the mains in a jet kit so I figure I'd give them a try Quote
J-Madd Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 Unless you've got some aggressive port work normally 30 pilots are too big for most. Look for air leak as mentioned. Quote
Dennisw Posted August 21, 2015 Author Report Posted August 21, 2015 No port work maybe next set of jugs I'll look for a air leak I copper sealed all the gaskets but Ya never know Quote
J-Madd Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 No sealant should be needed on stock gaskets and stock cylinders. Some people do put yamabond on then though. Aftermarket cylinders have more porosity and inconsistencies and may need sealant though. Quote
wayne_smith97 Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 No port work maybe next set of jugs I'll look for a air leak I copper sealed all the gaskets but Ya never know That outlook will end up with a blown motor Quote
Dennisw Posted August 21, 2015 Author Report Posted August 21, 2015 I figured better safe than sorry with the copper seal Quote
Dennisw Posted August 21, 2015 Author Report Posted August 21, 2015 I'm gonna check for a air leak if it passes prolly try the 27.5s Quote
Dennisw Posted August 21, 2015 Author Report Posted August 21, 2015 One jug already has a chip in it from a bad crank lol Quote
wayne_smith97 Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 I figured better safe than sorry with the copper seal I was talking about the " I will check for air leaks when it's time for new jugs" part. Do a leak down and make sure it holds. Quote
Dennisw Posted August 21, 2015 Author Report Posted August 21, 2015 Lol I meant get some port work on the next set of jugs since these ones are chipped Quote
sleeper06 Posted August 22, 2015 Report Posted August 22, 2015 Check for air leaks , it's been very hard pressed for me to find good mating surfaces that don't need sealer , 8-10 yrs ago no problem lately everything I open up is haggered 1 Quote
