new build, new everything, wont run

Will do. I assume this was the whole issue. There was an overheating issue that led us to pulling the head off tonight. It only had a day of riding on it between being built and now. So nothing damaged or torn up. No wonder my soap and water didn't show me any leaks :( lesson learned though. It will pass a 6 minute test before it runs again even if this isn't 100% the issue and I have to pull it again. I was in a pinch to get it running for a big ride last weekend and did the best I could in the time I had

If the cylinder got wet, more than likely it got glazed and you should buy a ball hone and deglaze the cylinders, then install new rings.

And when installing a cool head, I always install the orings with a little bit of Vasiline. The Vaseline is sticky and does a great job holding the orings in place when you invert the head.

I just did this entire job on my buddy's dune ported 89.

The cylinders are oily, they look fine. Doesn't look like it burned any of the coolant. I used a little grease to hold the Rings in place but I will use Vaseline next time. All I can think of is they came loose when I worked it down over the studs. We found the burn spot on each o ring where it appears it got pinched between the head and jug

Good Job on finding that leak... Yea strm is right grease is just fine anything like that... Some guys use chap stick... I use grease cause I have tons of it... We spend way too much money on these things to ever think about running them with any type of "acceptable" leak... A leak is a leak it isn't gonna get better

Well guys the O-rings came today, got the head on and it passed the leak down with flying colors. Needle never budged. I was in a rush when it got built and admit it was a bad situation but it's been corrected, almost 10 minutes later she's still holding! I'm very happy

Ended up holding for 17 minutes before I let it off and started assembly. Now it's backfiring when it comes off idle. It looks like it's backfiring left pipe, right pipe, left again etc. Might be way rich but I backed the air screws out half a turn at a time and it still does it
