Banshee_82 Posted July 21, 2015 Report Share Posted July 21, 2015 I got a 99 banshee that I'm having a problem with. It won't start. I tryed cleaning the jets and that didn't work. But when I put a little gas in the heads it's starts right up. If I keep the rpm's high it will keep going. But once I let it off it dies. So it must be starving for gas. Reading your first post gave me a headache with the lack of punctuation, and misspelled words. When someone asks you a question, give a proper, and detailed answer, not a vague answer like the first one you gave. Banshee_82 Posted July 22, 2015 Author Report Share Posted July 22, 2015 Last time I rode it, I was riding it for about 30 mins then it started to bog out. The same thing happened the ride before that. Right after it dies, I go to kick it and it doesn't start. Once I got back I took a look at the plugs to see if I fouled one and they both looked fine ( put brand new ones in anyways). A few days later I went to start it and it started right up then died in 5 seconds. Then I tryed putting a little gas in each head then it started right up and ran for 15 seconds then died. I then checked the jets and they were clear. The powerband also seemed to be weaker from it starving for gas. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
fastbanshee8 Posted July 22, 2015 Report Share Posted July 22, 2015 If the jets are clean, and it starts when you put gas in the spark plug holes, then you've got a fuel delivery issue. Do you have a vent tube on the gas cap going into the steering stem? If so, see if the stem is full of water, keeping the tube from drawing in air. Banshee_82 Posted July 22, 2015 Author Report Share Posted July 22, 2015 I got a aftermarket gas cap with a smaller tube on it. I'll give it a look. I noticed it was leaking a little gas from it. hoppedupandcutdown Posted July 26, 2015 Report Share Posted July 26, 2015 The screens are attached to the petcock. Best to remove the tank from the bike, being low on fuel helps,lay it on its right side and remove the petcock from the tank.
