camatv
ok so some of my local friends are thinking of taking a dune trip to glamis for pres day. is there anywhere i can get some info on the area? they went last year and said it was 40 miles to anything at all. i have looked some on the online info i could find. if anyone has tips/ that would be great we are hauling out a 40 ft trailer, camper, and maybe my flat bed truck. i'm going to try and bring at least one drag bike out and have a lil fun. i'm sure i will get stomped by the big boys but hey>? hp2000
Brawley is the closest town and is pretty well stocked. Drive time to there not pulling 20min which isn't bad. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Paul M
stop and get ur pass at the shell in Westmoreland its on your way , next to the street at the shell station is a water spigot I fill up there , you will need you own hose , try to find a spot on gecko rd , its way better then the washes and not as much dust ! cheapest fuel in the area is usually the red earth casino , Brawley has a Vons and a super walmart . Vons is on the main drag, walmart is out of the way a bit.... on the way out the red earth casino has a bunch dump stations for a quick clean out ............ I go 2-3 times a yr let me know if you have any other Questions
m671054
Plan on hauling your drag stuff to the hill. From gecko its a ways out to olds. Alky dune bike is a horrible idea. Big fuel tanks and fuel economy are key. You will have a blast
possum
If you want to drag race at olds, camp at the washes or on sand highway near the store. Wash 4-5 is a straight shot 15 min ride to olds on a bike. Or drive in to olds from the wash in a truck pulling bikes is the best way for drag bikes. By truck its 20-30 min from the store to olds. From this side of the dunes, you can get to all the best dunes and olds hill. If you camp at gecko rd and want to race at gecko flat drags. And tons of dunes as well. From the store/washes to gecko rd is about a 15 drive in a vehicle. Sand highway runs along side the highway. About a 40 min ride on a duner depending how fast you ride. I prefer the washes, harder packed if you have an rv, way closer to olds hill, closer to china wall and huge dunes etc.. If you plan to dune bring ALOT of fuel. You can do 10gal a day easy on a banshee if you go on a few trips. If racing, olds is usually whooped and chopped to hell. Not sure if someone grades it, usually not. So good luck going fast there. Also rangers are everywhere busting people for anything All in all, go to Dumont for prez weekend. 1000 times better. In all ways possible.

Dumont drag hill is easier to access than glamis and the hill is smoother. Glamis does have 3x the ridding area than dumont to does, so if your plan is to ride dunes and not so much drag then Glamis is your spot. camatv
i'm pretty much the only one in this group that has a drag bike. my slowest bike would probably smoke anything they have. but its all fun. i'd like to bring a dunner and one drag bike out. but space and other things may decide that one. possum
Yea like hp says. Cruising around, looking to get into the baddest dunes around. While trying not to get lost. GLAMIS If you want some duning, and best drag hill with the fastest bikes around. but not huge like glamis. Super easy access, with still a good amount of dunes.
