tommo
hey guys , i was wondering how much a stock 2001 banshee can take when jumping. especially the axle. ive had my bike for a good 8 months and ive mostly been doin burms roostin and hill climbing. i now want to start getting some decent air . do i need to do anything inparticular to prep my bike for this(by this i mean adjust my present parts)and how much can my shee take until it will start to shit itself. i weigh around 70 kg and my bike is pretty much stock standard. any replies will be much appreciated
txblueshee
Your stock supension will give in b4 you'll bust that stock axle....meaning that you'll have to land from like 10ft on flat ground. Do that w/ the stock suspension and you will die. Mike

Aussie Quad Racer
all depends on your launch and landing ramps. on stock suspension and axle and a-arms, i bent the axle doing jumps in 4th gear.
BansheeBrian
We had a post in the roostin room about yamaha shit steel. Your landing is key to how long your stock stuff will last. When you jump do you hear a "knock" when you land?? Thats the stock spring screaming uncle and that its relying on other parts to absorb the pressure. Your axle is the least of worries on jumping. txblueshee
txblueshee what do you mean by shocks give I mean that you will bend a shaft, bust a spring, shear a shock bolt... b4 you bust your stock axle. You can jump 50-60ft. jumps (I do) w/ the stock axle as long as you land on the down slope. Mike

Mike That is the key to getting the best height with your stock equipment, landing on a downslope. It also makes for a much more forgiving landing if you aren't in the correct position! Stylemaster
youll bust a nut before you bust that axle...
Screamin_Demon
LMAO... I don't know how much this can be stressed, but as mentioned, landing is definitely the key here. I've seen a stock axle bend, but never completely break in half from a bad landing. The main thing you'll have to worry about with stock suspension on a bad landing is not being thrown off the quad. Definitly wear a helmet, mine has many battle scars from jumping and landing wrong and getting launched off head first.
