WALZ
Cool, thank you SheeRider for the picture that does add a perspective. I hope I don't have to mount mine that high but I will try it before I knock it. At least now I know what to be conscientious of as far as making sure the shifter is returning. Appreciate everyones time.
sheerider11
Damn, that's high. But my riding boot sits right under it in a neutral sitting position. When I lean back there's some pressure on it. I can't see how people ride with them so low. I can't point my foot down way under the shifter in the middle of going through a set of whoops or hanging off the side through a trail. okbeast
I usually don't ride with my foot under the shifter. Sent from my LG-D850 using Tapatalk
sheerider11
You are for reals riding with your shifter that high???Haha yes. That is the best position. My boot fits under the shifter with my foot flat on the peg and I lift just a little to down shift. locogato11283
My shifter is set at center of the stator cover. I generally either wear riding boots or steel toe work boots. I rode Camatv's bike a few years back at LSOK. His shifter was so low I almost ripped my foot off after the bike wheelied and then came down. My foot was basically pointing at the ground. But when I am riding it's easier to slide my foot straight under rather then point my whole leg down. I can't bend my ankle in riding boots. But aren't you mostly riding in a straight line and primarily up shifting 2-3 times and that's mostly it? There's no freaking way I could ride even remotely aggressively and up shift and down shift correctly at that angle.

The boot is super stiff after a year. It's alpinestar tech 3. I can't bend my ankle at all. I'm pretty sure that's the way there supposed to be. sleeper06
I don't run it that high, from a drag perspective I don't down shift so I place shifter a lil higher than normal

sheerider11
This makes sense to me for drag purposes. It's a pain in the ass for me to wiggle my size 13 riding boot under a low shifter. My trails are 95% whoops. So I'm leaning back a lot. Toes are pointed up.

So I'm leaning back a lot. Toes are pointed up. I can see this, especially with size 13s. I where 10s, I have short wide duck feet. I need to be able shift gears in the rider forward or reward position when doing weight transfer maneuvers, so I have to find a happy medium for myself.
