sleeper06
Looks like the gasket behind the basket, I'm gonna say cushions are shot, take basket out hold gear in your hand and rotate basket holding gear if it moves time for a new one. I wouldn't leave it as is

bansheelova
sorry im a lil confused , so what im looking for is play between basket (which is the thing with the plates) and the gear right ? . . . so i take both basket and gear off and check for play when there both off the bike and in my hand ? also i am somewhat mechanically inclined but im not an expert . is this very straight forward job ? cuz i see that the screws on basket are spring loaded . . just sizing the job up to see if i can do it myself instead of taking it to rip off dealer . thanks in advance i appreciate the response

fastbanshee8
The gear is attached to the back of the clutch basket, and there shouldn't be any movement between them. You need to buy a Clymer's manual, so you have a better idea of what is going on.
