trickedcarbine
The Koso isn't AFR. The stuff with O2 sensors for cars WILL NOT LIVE. Two stroke kills O2 sensors. You can tune on it, then take them out. Leaving them in with a hope that they live is Futile.
n2otoofast4u
^ This is somewhat correct. We have been pretty successful with them in the sleds, but they are oil injected so there is FAR less oil getting on the sensors. IMO you will struggle to keep them working on a premix application. I know the guys that dyno with an AFR sensor are buying probes on a regular basis. The Bosch sensors are an OEM Cadillac part and are I think 160 or 180 dollars. I've heard that some guys have crossed them over to something cheaper but I've never tried one. Why do you need/want an AFR gauge?
bansheelapointe
so what does the koso measure then if not afr does it measure exhaust temp?
bansheelapointe
should i jsut go with a egt guage intstead of afr, and the reason i want one is for help with tuning and to keep an eye on what the engine is doing

All that I've owned and been around operated at different numbers. You will be able to tune back to the number you decide is correct but unless you're riding in big swings of altitude or temperature change once it's jetted correct the tuneup doesn't change. And again those sensors will not stand up long term. Short story.......... this is a waste of money!
Whitbread
An AFR gauge is only useful on the dyno or on an efi bike in my opinion. I get about 3 hours out of an 02 sensor, bosch 17014, my cost $48 at autozone. Have in for tuning only, then yank it out.
RadarRacing
Most all the guys I know that got egt gauges ended up burning motors up within a year. Honestly the best advice you can be given is to tune correctly either with plug chops or on a dyno with and AFR gauge and you are good. The gauges are a terrific idea and would be terrific if they worked perfectly but they do not due to numerous factors. My 10 mil would probably read just fine and low egts even with piston burning temps.
