camp0429
When I was doing some reading on this subject, I came across a "mod" I guess you could say where guys were movin the resevoir to the nose of the frame. They were sayin something about when you go up (or down can't remember) a hill its possible for coolant to get trapped in the vent tube after the resevoir and then when you go down, (or up) hill it drains out and and could make someone think they have an issue when there is nothin wrong. It was somethin along them lines, dont remember where that was at, but it had drawings and measurements and everything
dttuner
So, what would be next troubleshooting steps be? - Compression test - Leak Down test - Check Spark plugs for coloring, humidity - Check Cylinders for coolant ?
sleeper06
I understand how a coolant system works gravel. Many years ago when I started playing with banshees I was told on this site that it's not a recirculating tank . I never put any thought into further than that due to fact most don't leave them on. I stand corrected . I've also never seen one change levels while riding and I've tjned built and ridden 100s of bikes maybe that has to do with my riding conditions and a safe tune that never lets the engine get to those temps to steam out I'm not sure . The one on my asphault bike has been empty , I use it as a catch can basically. I've never been low on coolant and never seen anything burp out . A lot of people need to realize they can have a weak rad cap also that doesn't help the situation.
Larry's Shee
What did your plugs look like last time you checked them? Checked since this issue? Both the same? One different? Does it look "washed" clean? As mentioned get cooling system tester on loan a tool from AZ or such. Only way to know for sure if it's leaking anywhere. After tearing it down enouph to do leakdown I found head gasket leak on stator side cylinder . I pulled head sanded gasket surfaces , installed new head and it now passed a leakdown. He brought new pipes I installed ,then jetted the bike , put new plug caps on and bingo his shit is running great and safe now. dttuner
So, no real answer or refund from the dealer. Wasn't expecting one, but hoped they would at least have something to say. Lesson learned.
