jscharphorn
I have trouble with my hole shot, it just bogs most of the time and the drags are next week and at the moment I will have to bring my 4poke because this thing is not going to cut it. I am trying to take off in second gear I have a 421 cub, 33pwk carbs on 110 mix is 32:1 jetting 170 mains 600' elevation. sprockets 15/43 22" tires I have tried a bunch of different gearing and some different jets, needle is currently 2nd from bottom. any suggestions ? It seems everything I have tried does not work.
Surfrjag
Timing? Compression? 170 is probably rich too
bluebanshee98
What kind of drags? Dirt? Sand? Is your cub ported at all? Seems like a big main jet especially if it's not ported
jscharphorn
It is not ported, sand drags but I am testing in my field with ambush 22's +4 timing compression 162 with 20cc domes
Surfrjag
Go to +6 timing and 160 main 110 straight not mixed Do you have a lockout?
sleeper06
Compression seems low to not be ported, maybe shees tired. Who cut domes. What needle is in the bike I found d-series needles work the best in Cubs with those carbs . Can you do a plug chop. How do plugs look . Those jets don't alarm me so much
Coupelx
slip the clutch a bit?
jscharphorn
Motor was completely disassembled and put back together by shawn at proformance prototype after I purchased it used. I have +10 swinger 110 race gas New drive line clutch , no lockout I do not know what needles are in it, I do not know how to tell . I did a glug chop last night with 168 mains, to me it looks lean but I am going to have shawn look at it this weekend.
Surfrjag
The needles are marked right near the clip. The 2 cubs I just tuned both wanted 160 mains. Anything bigger was a big loss in power. Did you check squish? Bump the timing at least and try again.
jscharphorn
dang, I hope it does not need a 160, smallest I have is a
Surfrjag
Each bike is different so before changing jetting I would check squish and needle. Check pickup gap and new plugs gapped. Then try again. Any idea what base gasket?
sleeper06
I think your crazy to not have a lockout, I have a decent amount of experience with 33s they like bigger jets than the more common 35s . My friends duneport stock cylinder chopped perfect at 172 main dek needle 2nd clip
sleeper06
Is everything else up to par , I would do like surf said check squish ask Shawn what the band width is and angle. So it's new Pistons and rings
jscharphorn
needles are OG plugs gapped at 22, I have tried new plugs also. squish and gaskets I will need to ask shawn. pistons and rings were good he said so we used them. I will talk to shawn tonight. was your friends clip 2nd from top or bottom ?
jscharphorn
also using bike as a duner also so that is why I did not go with the lockout.
