2STROKIN_IT
So I got a guy selling a bike with a "bill of sale" only. It has minimal upgrades on it and it's an 87, old j arm setup I believe. I'm still fresh off the boat when it comes to these but I can use the majority of the parts for my 97 right? He said the motor is locked up completely but my question is would it be worth the price? I think upgrades were like a trinity 2-1 carb setup, k and n pod filter with outer on a pro flow plate and some itp wheels with decent rubber. Other than that everything is bone stock. He has no clue as to why it locked up might I add. Any input on this would be amazing considering I will be driving out to look at it after work this afternoon. Like always Thanks a bunch fellas
bigweav81
I think the electrical components are a different plug style. J arm set up, and being locked up.....I'd haggle him to death on the price.
98_sheester
400 bucks its seized would be the top mark for me anyway like bigweave said j arm frame and im not sure what yr they started to change wire plugs but they different in those years
BANSHEE HP
pics would help, but i agree with the others. non running banshee for any reason especially a locked up one is worth no more than $500,
sheerider11
I bought a blown up "banchee" "parts bike" for 200 or 300 bucks.
2STROKIN_IT
Yeah he didn't send me very good quality pics. But that kinda sucks that wiring had different plugs, makes me hesitant to buy. He seems a bit desperate so I'll take about $500 with me and see how it goes. He is only an hour drive from me so it won't be too much time wasted if I go. Weather is shit out here right now so I can't even tinker with my bike very much. I'll let you know how it goes, I'm glad I got word from you guys cause I thought that was a steal. Thanks again guys, I owe you a beer
2STROKIN_IT
Well I am mainly wanting it for parts vs a rebuild on it. I want to take motor out and send it out to get overhauled so I can slap on my running Banshee. I was looking at it in the sense of not having any down time while the cylinders get done up and what not. Plus I'm one of those inquisitive fellas and would like to tear the motor apart just to see how the insides work and I don't wanna do that to my running bike. But I'm gonna low ball the crap out of him till I see smoke coming out of his ears!! Let you know how it goes or if I even get it...

bigweav81
If that's the case look around. Buy another engine, save more$, and buy a built engine. You will be out cost + repair, and parts. You didn't mention what pipes you have now, and what pipes are on the 800$ banshee. Food for thought, you can get several set up ss, or 4mil from FA.S.T starting at 875$ I believe. bigweav81
Serval cylinders, and pistons is what I meant. .....don't quote me on it though.
2STROKIN_IT
Yeah that's not too bad at all!! Well on my rig now I have the ToomyT5 system on there, the $800 has factory pipes on it. I was mainly lookin at it for the wheels and 2-1 carb setup on it but other than that there was nothing special. I'm gonna look into the site sponsor and see what they are offering up before I go and commit. I have a few hours left at work so I'm gonna do a little digging around. I am really glad I started this topic!!
bigweav81
^^^Do that. Not enough on that bike to justify the cost.
