markjohnson151
I need help jetting a banshee with stock carbs, FMF exhaust, no air box anymore,VF3 reeds, coolheads(unaware of what cc),and was bored .030. I looked in carb and it has 360 main jet. Currently doing a top end rebuild and waiting for cylinders to come back. My question is are these the right jets for this kind of setup? Also will I need to change out my cool heads to a different cc. It will most likely be bored to .040 or .050 i believe. My first banshee and want to make sure everything is correct. Also it will be rode at 828 sea level. Thanks for any help.
willaduncan
That's way too rich... You should be sitting around 310 ish 27.5 with needle on the 4th clip from the bottom, make sure you do a leak down before you fire it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Edited May 5, 2015 by willaduncan
markjohnson151
ok that helps a lot never seen a post with anyone with a 360 jet would that have anything to do with having to redo the top end? Also new to all this what exactly is a "leak down"? Thanks for your help.
markjohnson151
when i first saw it they said in probably needed to be rejetted, then the top end was bad
bigweav81
^^^They always use the old......it needs rejetted trick. Sent from your mammy house
willaduncan
Leak down test you plug the exhaust ports with rubber pvc caps... And put a capped piece of pvc in one side of the intake and one with a air pressure gauge and valve stem in the other side. Using a hand bicycle pump, pump it up to 6 psi for 6 minutes. Do some research and you will find more Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

markjohnson151
Ok thanks willaduncan. Turns out that Im not getting it bored anymore it will just be stock bore now and the coolheads are 17cc domes. Will I need to change the domes and if so what cc would you recommend with stock bore and the same mods. Thanks
98_sheester
Well if your on pump gas id say 22cc domes and i feel like 300-310 should be close
markjohnson151
I have never ran it before so I don't know what gas they used since it was 17cc i was thinking race gas but wasn't sure. With stock bore can i still use these coolheads with the 17cc dome, but I would just have to purchase race gas?
bigweav81
If your crank isn't trued, and welded. Then your more then likely flirting with disaster running 17cc domes.
98_sheester
Bigweave is right if your pushing your luck with bug power
bigweav81
I don't know about bug power lol.......but that's a lot of compression on a stock crank!
markjohnson151
I don't know if the crank is stock or not I'm just replacing cylinders and pistons. Sorry but I know very little about it since i didn't do the work. All i know is what i figured out tearing it apart but didn't want to go to the lower end. If the recommendation is to get bigger domes than that is what I'm going to do. i understand where everyone is coming from. I just jumped in something that they had already modded and tweaked if that makes since.
98_sheester
Soon enough when you wanna play with it youll get in there to see if its welded when you wanna put power to it
