67banshee01 Posted April 14, 2015 Report Posted April 14, 2015 30 over with 4mill crank and t6s. Stock ports and carbs. Has 310 mains 25 pilot. Went from Colorado to tx. About 2500 ft. Lower. Would like a ballpark estimate of where I should start Quote
Strm Trpr Posted April 14, 2015 Report Posted April 14, 2015 I see you're on stock carbs. Airbox with or without lid, or PODS? Assuming you're tuned perfectly, no air leaks, idle screws installed, TORS eliminated correctly and the carbs are sync'd with a FAST Carb Sync Tool. For every 2k ft you go down in elevation you should go up a jet size. Air density and humidity will play a factor too. I'd imagine much more humid in Texas. To start, I'd make sure the carbs are clean, clean, clean. If the bowls haven't been removed in a minute, I'd get two new OE bowl gaskets, just in case you tear one. Float height set to 20+/-1mm. I'd throw in 330 mains and 27.5 pilots, minimum. needle clips middle groove If your airscrews need to be turned out to < 1 turn from seated to get the throttle to snap off idle, go up to 30 pilots. 1 Quote
67banshee01 Posted April 14, 2015 Author Report Posted April 14, 2015 I'll give it a shot tomorrow. I needed to buy jets but they are pricey so no need to buy 20 different sizes for one bike. It needs to be gone through and cleaned anyways Quote
bigweav81 Posted April 14, 2015 Report Posted April 14, 2015 A kit with multiple jets well worth it. Sent from your mammy house Quote
Strm Trpr Posted April 15, 2015 Report Posted April 15, 2015 Pilot jets are banshee carb specific, just saying... Quote
bigweav81 Posted April 15, 2015 Report Posted April 15, 2015 I've bought kits with multiple jets.......that were for specific banshee carbs. Worth it to me just to have laying around. Sent from your mammy house Quote
67banshee01 Posted April 17, 2015 Author Report Posted April 17, 2015 (edited) Well I made it down here pulled the carbs apart. Cleaned them noticed I have 280s in them. Today I rode it a little and it seemed to run pretty great??? Nice idle. Snappy throttle up and down. Pulled hard when I was grabbing gears. I'm confused ( just to be noted it was just an open field and some trails I was riding and only for maybe 1/2 an hour) Edited April 17, 2015 by 67banshee01 Quote
bigweav81 Posted April 17, 2015 Report Posted April 17, 2015 You do a plug chop? Sent from your mammy house Quote
Larry's Shee Posted April 17, 2015 Report Posted April 17, 2015 If you haven't upped the jetting for the elevation drop you may be dangerously lean. Have seen mention of melting down on dyno from trying one size smaller to get one more HP. That's what? 10 seconds? Just remember, they always run great, just before they blow up. Quote
67banshee01 Posted April 19, 2015 Author Report Posted April 19, 2015 Plugs looked nice dark chocolate. So I'll just leave it I guess?? Quote
Larry's Shee Posted April 20, 2015 Report Posted April 20, 2015 Plugs looked nice dark chocolate. So I'll just leave it I guess?? Is this after a proper plug chop (or plug "reading") or just after riding for a bit? World of difference between the two. Quote
