lincster
Ok, I am putting in my new carbon fiber reeds. When I opened the package, there is the reed plate, the reeds themselves(grey in color) and a plastic white deal under the reeds. So do I put the plastic white deal on first, then the reeds on top of that? And of course the reed plate on top of that. You ditch the stock reed plate right? Thanks
MULLET~BOY
you are supposed to ditch the stock reed stops first you put the reeds with the hole in the center of them then you put the solids over
lincster
Ok, that is what I did. I knew you ditched the stock reed stops. Thanks
lincster
So does this look right?
Banchetta
I'm not sure about the plastic white piece. There shouldn't be a gap between the reeds and the cages at all....I've never seen the white spacer. I'm using dual stage boysens, but they are not the carbon fibers...I still wouldn't think they need that white spacer....I could be wrong though....I'd get some more info before putting it back together... Cotton eyed Joe
My Boyesens didn't come with that white thing either. I think it may go on TOP of the reeds as a tensioner of some sort.
lincster
If there shouldn't be a gap between the reeds and the block, then these are the wrong reeds, because they don't even come close to matching the holes. I don't think they would go on top of the white piece, then both sets would have to open at the same time because the solid reeds are bigger than the holes in the white piece. Crap, I don't have my receipt anymore and I don't remember where I bought them from. I guess I can call Boyesen and ask them. They are called Dual Stage Carbon Fiber reeds, so I assume the dual stage part comes from the white piece and the solid carbon colored reeds? Banchetta
Is that white piece part of the larger petals??? It looks like the white piece is separate....Looks like there is 3 pieces...white piece, larger petals, then little carbon fiber petals....Am I wrong?? lincster
There are only 2 pieces, the large white piece and the smaller carbon fiber petals. The number on the package says they are the right reeds for the Banshee. I checked Boyesens web site. Thanks for staying with my on this one Banchetta. I hope they are the right ones. Toomey Banshee
I would guess the white part goes on top of everything else as well. Since you ditched the stock reed stops maybe this replaces those? Like Banchetta said, there should be no space between the reeds and the cage. Are you sure its 2 pieces? It looks like the white piece, the transparrent larger part of the reed and the black reed pedals.
Banchetta
Oops, my bad... So the white piece has two holes in it for the little petals....If so, then you have it right....Sorry to worry you. I just never seen boysens w/ the white....looked like 3 pieces instead of two.... lincster
Coolio!!! Yeah, the carbon petals are just a tad bigger than the openings in the white piece. Once it is on there and I hold it up to light, it looks correct. I will put it back together. Thanks again.
