Ljj
Just rebuilt quad and now on startup revs like crazy. Did a leakdown test and held air pretty good. Any suggestions?

blowit
may end up redoing the leak down. May not have got cases fully seated to each other and blew the sealant out. In any case, the retest should tell you lots in terms of what is going on. If it is not lean run-on, you need to make sure the carb slides are actually returning to the bottom. You should hear them tap the idle screws. Common on a rebuild to have the cables bound up somewhere and slides hang up. Slides are a must check every time you mess with the carbs. 98_sheester
The carb slides are in backwards make sure the side with the groove on each slide is toward the choke tube i just had this problem and thats what it was

98_sheester
Ok well i was rejetting my carbs pulled each out (one at time) sprayed all down with cleaner rolled it out side kicked it over and revvved like the throttle was stuck wot hit the kill switch played with my idle kick it again same thing happen only not as fast. And only my right pipe was getting hott also. So i called my motor guy and asked if he had time to troubleshoot so i told him what i did and had me check the slide to see if my idle grooves were faci g out....long be hold my slide was in 180 degrees oppisite. So therefore the small groove running up the whole slide should be inward toward the choke tube on each slide. If this is confusing im sorry also

98_sheester
The left carb slide the groove should be on the right (inward) and same with the right carb the grooves should go the same way facing each other inward
