Dubol22
will absolutely not start or idle but other than that its the fastest thing I have rode. ptr head, 18cc domes, adjustable stator plate, bored 80 over, everything else is stock. any ideas? Dubol22
also it is possible that more is done to the engine. when I got the banshee someone had ran straight gas and blew the motor so I bought this one for a lot cheaper than I could rebuild my other off of ebay so I don't remember all the specks but I know if the octane is less than 110 it wont run if you pulled it all day. yes the choke hose is hooked up properly. lol
Currywitdashotboy
You have stock pipes an it's the fastest thong you have rode? Try start it like this. Turn petcock on an pull the choke out make sure the key off switch is off an the on/off switch is off kick it over a about 5 times or so then turn the key an switch on an kick it over see if she starts up like that. Dubol22
well its is a lot faster than the cr 250s I have raced. Sorry if fast to me is slow to you. no sir that doesn't work. I believe the carbs need jetting but I don't understand why it runs so well other than start and idle. I am currently saving for some pipes but im poor. Larry's Shee
First off you only need one thread. Next, without more info, we're as clueless as you. They always run the best just before they blow. Clean, set carbs, blah, blah, bla. List ALL mods/set-up you have a clue about. Record jetting when cleaning carbs. Wouldn't ride till you get it sorted, or you'll have two blown Banshees.
Dubol22
ok thank you. but as far as I know that is all of the mods. that was all that was listed when I bought the engine. The I applied all of the stock parts that I already owned. It has had this problem since 2005 but everywhere I take it near me refuses to work on it so I got despirate and I found this sight. I cleaned the carbs yesterday and learned about which bowl goes to which carb just a few hours ago so I checked that part and I also checked the choke tube because I saw that as someone else problem. but all input is appreciated. I am so tired of this problem I am debating on just buying a new domes because I want to run on pump gas. but I don't think its a motor problem. bigweav81
Was about to say this^^^. A piped banshee wouldn't be close. Unless those crs are running a bald ass tire, or horrible rider. Once topped out they are pretty neck to neck....I guess I've seen or heard, crazier shit though. Sent from your mammy house
Dubol22
may be it was the riders fault but I did beat him 3 times. im not really trying to b.s. around thought. I don't really know anybody, I was just hoping for some advice on the not starting or idling part from people who know im tired of being pushed off evry time I wanna ride. But apparently I don't know enough about my motor to be of any help to anyone. thanks for the input though.
camp0429
Most would do a compression check first thing
bigweav81
Give more information. Does it turn over when you kick it? Compression test, leak down test. Clean carbs, and clean pilots? Sent from your mammy house
Larry's Shee
Retarded set-up, 18cc domes and stock pipes? Start at ground zero. Get a Clymers repair manual, ohm ALL elec, coil ground, clean/tight elec connections, carb slides, carb sync, carb settings, new PROPER plugs. How are reeds? Fresh fuel, or same fuel from 10yrs ago? Mix ratio? What kind of compression are you running? Fucking with the same problem for 10 yrs?? You surely jest.
Rigid_Banshee
What is the timing set at ? How does the flywheel key look ? Whoever moded this motor out likely didn't use proper torque specs let alone a manual.
Dubol22
it turns over but doesn't sound like its fireing. I am sure its getting fire. it dies when you try to let it idle but when its running it runs great. it still has that mess with the carbs on it. I am going to buy the bypass kit soon. I realize that its a weird set up but I am on a fixed income and cant really afford to buy more parts most of the time. honestly I am not sure what the timing is set to at the moment but most likely its on 0. the flywheel key looks good as of the last time I looked and haven't rode it since. on the first of next month I am going to buy some 21cc domes and the carb kit to install idle screws. I only paid 700 bucks for the motor from someone in California and they told me it was a sand dune racing motor.it was far cheaper than rebuilding the blown motor it came with so I bought it but I had no idea what a headache running race gas is. As long as you are giving it gas or feathering the throttle I cant complain at all as it is the fastest four wheeler I have rode. then the month after that I am going to buy a jet kit and save for some Toomey t5's. then maybe after that some vforce 4's. this is all the info I know of the bike that hasn't already been listed. sorry I cant be of more help but I cant get any of the two motorcycle shops semi near me refuse to work on banshees for one reason or the other so I turned to the internet and found you guys and I stayed up all night reading this site. I don't have a compression testor but I ill find someone who does but I don't feel that's the problem as it runs like a cat with its tail on fire when riding. as far as reeds I will half to look but im not able to do that at the moment. thank you all for the advice and I will attempt to check all that is suggested. Dubol22
also as far s putting up with the problem for 10 years I was in the military and stationed out of the country for most of my time so I only got to ride it around once every two years but now since I am out I wanna ride but its so tedious and expensive for 115 octaine these days so I am looking to fix that.
