blowit
As tricked said, peak power is still the same. Difference is driveability and ease of adjustment. Once the tune was tweaked in decently, never needed to touch the throttle to start it, two kicks max no matter what the temp or elevation was. It would fire up and settle into a smooth idle within 3-4 secs and stay there all day. Theoretically, but as I learned, if you're making over 60hp and use it often, you need a clarke tank if you want to ride any distance. Riding hard, I guzzled about 4-4.25 gallons in 3.5 hours of riding. I'm hoping for 90-95hp with the new motor on e85 and I'm adding a 1.75 gallon rotopax in addition to the clarke tank for trail rides. I'm expecting it to be very thirsty. You will have to let me know how that works out. I cannot remember, were you running closed loop? We tuned a few engines on E85 but quit because guys were constantly out of tune due to variables in fuel from the pump. Does not take much ratio change to cause issues with tuning. Hell, I think we fight less with Methanol than E85.
trickedcarbine
E85 has a few issues and they are all due to the regulation of consistency or lack there of..... If it were me it would either be Race gas or Methonal
Whitbread
Yes, it was in closed loop when I burned a piston. 02 fouled and read full rich, so ecu pulled fuel accordingly. Poof. Having a Flex fuel sensor takes care of all alcohol percentage variance issues . I ride too much to burn $7/gal fuel and cant justify buying a 55 gal drum of meth to get it for less than $5/gal when e85 is $1.65 around the corner from my house. I'm not dragging so the 3%hp I'm "missing out on" isn't worth the cost.
