prosite@live.com
Wondering if it's ok to do a leak down test right after I put cases together with fresh rtv And torqued to spec ... The reason I'm asking cuz last night I resealed my cases and did the leak down 24hrs after the rtv was applied so it could cure , and today I did a leak down test and it failed .. On crank left side seal was installed backwards so have to redo the whole thing .. And is there any tricks to have 100% seal around the rubber seals ? bigweav81
Left side, as in your stator side? It's always a good idea to rtv the key way on the pto side. Seems like you would want it cured before applying pressure.
jayhawkatv
Yes you can test right afterwards. I tested it right afterwards and it passed. Could have gotten lucky though
oldskool
Just give it some cure time. Is being anxious worth having to open it again?
wayne_smith97
I agree with old skool. Just wait. It may be only 6lbs but I personally believe that it could push it out if not cured. (Though I have no proof it will)
Larry's Shee
Why are you using RTV? YammaBond, 3Bond or such.
bigweav81
I've used all of the above. If it's semi firm. Yamabond is some stringy shit, but I prefer it.
n2otoofast4u
RTV FTW
sleeper06
It will and can push it out without question give it cure time, if it's colder then 70* it's takes longer to cure . Common sense would tell you not to pressurize wet sealant. Is there s trick , yes clean cases in sink with hot soapy water(dish soap) let it dry then ascetone the shit out of the mating surfaces with a brand new white rag, when the rag stop turning black n dirty it's clean enouph to glue
