05banshee27
Here's my mods.. then the problem... fmf fatty powercore 2, pro design cool head with 22cc domes, bored .010 over, wiseco pistons, trinity 2-1 intake system with single 34mm keihin carb, k&n air filter with outerware. I had these mods for 4 years with zero problems! Went on a four day trip to the dunes at little Sahara and ran perfect for first day and a half! Then .... Just flying thru the dunes and it cut out on one cylinder. we've switched wires, changed plugs, cleaned and rejetted carb, checked stator and flywheel clearance, checked for rust, no rust, checked compression, had 125 on right and 123 on left. Checked reeds, switched reeds, same problem. Checked spark, good spark both plugs, checked for air leaks, no air leaks. Here's the weird thing... Runs on both cylinders on idle... And idle only. As soon as you give it gas, left cylinder dies... If you slowly rev it up it will hold for a few seconds, then dead cylinder.. Please help!!! This is driving me crazy!!! 05banshee27
do you have a spark tester? is it losing spark or fuel when you rev it up would be the question............... Yes I do have a spark tester. I'll try it while revving up. Thanks
05banshee27
Try the cdi. Or try switching the carbs. Is there a way to test the cdi? And I only have a single carb.

05banshee27
think he saying swap cdi with a known good one. Ok.. I'll just have to find some one else who has a banshee.. I was trying to diagnose it before I start ordering parts I don't need..
lil Doobie420
Or try switching the wires to see if the dead cylinder switches.

llawnmeister
Start it at night, rev it up and see if wire is arcing off of something. The spark jump will be quite evident in the dark.
05banshee27
Finally figured it out!! I decided to split the cases and inspecting everything, everything was good but had to hone cylinders for new pistons and rings, put all new seals and gaskets, put a new ignition coil, stator and flywheel....literally inspected every inch of the bike, repacked exhaust and... Same problem, the coil was weak when I tested it so I knew that for sure but the stator looked cheap and I had to tighten it before I installed it.Same Issue. So I replaced the only thing left to replace.. the cdi box, and it worked as far as firing on both cylinders put seemed to have no power.. put back on stock stator and flywheel (after cleaning rust off) and back to normal!! Running better and faster than ever!!
05banshee27
Try the cdi. Or try switching the carbs. Thanks for the help! AKheathen
one cylinder is usally either an ignition wire cap or uneven gap on the flywheel
