sstaton1983
IMO....... stock rods seem to be pretty strong.. but anything is subject to failure when its pushed beyond its limits... like extreme compression ratios or bad tuning and maintenance. sleeper06
The guy at competitive crankshaft said wsm were the strongest he's tested to date but there in the process of producing a new rod 3 mill thicker in certain areas , carillo will make you anything you want , they made me rods and Pistons to match s 7 mil stroker r1 engine I built n ported for a friend but your gonna pay close to 400 for initial machine set up plus the part but after that initial peice it's cheaper
registered user
i see no reason to use a stock 110 rod except on a bone stock engine, in which case they will work fine. rods i use are 1mm thicker in the beam and quit a bit stronger on the little and big ends than even the grey hotrods, which have been known to snap in half. blame it on not cleaning the airfilter, not turning on the fuel valve, compression to high, blame it on what ever the hell you want but those are lame ass reasons for a rod to snap in half. if it cant handle some serious abuse it wont be installed in my engine

registered user
naw theyre middle of the road but good enough. theres better ones but theyre $250 a pop. this game aint cheap. some corners can be cut but not on the conrods. its the weaklink in the chain, make it as strong as you can
