aleyesonme
Could this be an 8 plate clutch basket....
sheerider11
No. But that hub is sticking out far. What do you have behind it? I think your washers are out of order
RadarRacing
Yep. Got a washer pinched behind the nut.
aleyesonme
Ok, now we're getting somewhere....I'm not sure what's behind it...I just took an old clutch out and put in a new one...is the hub the part that's sticking out from the last clutch fiber? Is it suppose to be more flush with that last fiber? Edited March 10, 2015 by aleyesonme
hoppedupandcutdown
I asked if you had the hub off, bet you got 2 thrust plates (fat washers) behind it, instead of one
aleyesonme
No I didn't take the hub off...just took clutches out....that's it...could I have pulled the hub out of align?
sprinklerman
OP needs a Clymer manual. Hope you get it fixed. I'd buy a Clymer asap if I were you though.
aleyesonme
I have one...that's why I'm stumped. But what shreerider and radarracing said was the first thing that was mentioned that I didn't know about. Would have posted pics earlier. So is the hub out of place? Follow instructions. 3. Ride. One of your spacer washers is in the wrong spot it seems in the picture. (Possibly ) hard to see. There should be one on each side of the basket.
hoppedupandcutdown
stack your old clutches up next to a pile of your new ones, see if there is a noticeable difference.
aleyesonme
did that as well. not a noticeable difference. But can u answer this one question, like someone mention earlier, is that hub out of place. if so that would solve my problem. Cause it would make sense on why my clutch plate is not grabbing the clutches
hoppedupandcutdown
it would only solve your problem if the pusher is hitting on the end of the shaft or nut and keeping the plate from going in far enough. Your steels and fibers pinch between the inner hub and pressure plate no matter what.
hoppedupandcutdown
it slides on this far with nothing in the middle
aleyesonme
looks like that pressure plate is going inside that hub, am I seeing something wrong? I really appreciate all that helped
Phelps
take the center hub off the bike. like sprinklerman has said over and over get your clymers out and fix the reason the center hub is sticking out too far.
