I havent ever bought a set of paddle tires so I'm not sure if there is a certain kind that is good or not. My banshee is nearly stock but I'm adding pipes, so I dont need tires designed for drag or anything like that, but are those tires any good? If no, list what paddle tire you like most and why. Like you said you're not drag racing, so you need something that will hook up but not hook up to the point that you bog. V bladed paddles are great for turning, but wont hook up quite as well and straight blade due to the time over area in the sand. (Since the blades are in a V, part of the paddle is not in the sand while other parts of it like the apex are in the sand) Straight paddles are 100% in the sand, so they hook better. I ran 20x10x10 8 paddles since day one. My buddy ran 20x10x8 9 paddles. He hooked so much better than me it was sick. I tried to get the same tire for my wifes bike, and the dumb f*ck at the dealer said, "Oh this bike isn't piped. It won't work with the 9 paddles" My buddies bike ran strong, was fast, but still duneable. When he added pipes they worked just fine too. You can also pump up the air pressure if its grabbing too much. I do that when its wet, or been raining or I want to shower sand over the top of a razor for a picture. I race at around 3-4lbs, and when I want that extra tire spin I go to as much as 6lbs. Air down, and you get more time over area, and they hook up great. Sand sucks alot of power, so the lighter you can be, the better. I noticed a huge difference when I went from my molded paddle mounted on Douglas Black Labels(heavy duty rims) and I went with Skat Trak Edges mounted on Douglas Blue Label rims. Skat Traks are shaved tires with paddles "glued" onto the tires. They are about 5lbs lighter apiece and really helped. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

THE KENDA'S DIG STRAIGHT DOWN FOR SOME REASON. A FRIEND OF MINE HAD SOME AND WENT ON ONE RIDE AND WENT TO ONE OF THE VENDORS AT GLAMIS AND WORKED A TRADE AND SOME CASH FOR SKATS. They are in perfect shape and have used them for 3 trips to glamis. For the front tires skat trak mohoks are good or sand skates version are the best front tire out there. That was my opinion too....until I found these... Not sure where they come from, got them at LS, ok. "King's Paddle Tires - Turbo Paddle" They're just 8 paddle,...figured I'd go with 8 instead of 9 with the -2 arm. They are the shit, very good construction, looks--are a bit wider than skats, & I was told at the shop there that they hook up just as good & wear a hell of a lot better than skats, and they run on avg. $100 cheaper. But for fronts,...I'll stick with my skat mohawlks. I still have my old 9pdl skat haulers--now on the g/f's shee, they are damn good too--if you got the money & want the name, I'd definately recommend them also. I couldn't get any bite whatsoever. I ended up selling them and getting a set of turbo paddles 8 paddle which helped a little but not much. I run 22x11-10 10 paddle skat trak haulers on douglas black labels now because I like to jump and man what a difference. I recommend skat trak to anybody who asks about paddles. Its a pretty decent drive for me to any dunes so I didn't want to spend $200+ on a set of tires that'll get used only 4x/year. I got the Gecko's/rims for $150 and they work pretty good. I haven't found a hill I couldn't make it up yet and the bike is still plenty manueverable. I run 5lbs because I like to jump alot so I'm missing out on some of the extra bite. IMO, they're a decent tire for a great price. I think the new ITP Sand Stars are probably a better value, they're only a few bucks more and look alot more aggressive.
