Holyman
I did the same thing. You can go to greyhound.com and they have a whole thing set up for shipping. You drop it off at your local terminal and the other guy picks it up at their local terminal. Greyhound will not drop off at every stop though. So figure out where the thing needs to go and then look on a map to find the nearest large towns. That way when you talk to greyhound if one town doesn't have a terminal, you can suggest another one. I got mine shipped from my own town to New Jersey for about $55 and all I did was make a cardboard box for it from furniture store cardboard I got out of the dumpster. It's the only way to go AND they ship FAST since it's usually a direct drive to the terminals from one point to another. It got to NJ from Chicago in 2 days!!! banshee370
NYUK: I've shipped a few myself. I've always used UPS. All I have done is small chunks of cardboard over the sharp points. (grab bar brkts, fender brkts, upper steering loop, frt fender brkts, and some at the base. Sometimes I will even wrap that w/ shrink wrap. I also tape a small piece of cardboard to where the seat goes for the UPS shippiing sticker. UPS then charges extra since its oversized and heavy. I think the last one was 70.00-75.00, and I will be sending one to Meat soon so I will take pics of it for reference. Incase you need to ship another one in the future. You beat me by a few minutes Walt. Nyuk, how Walt described is exactly how my frame came from K&K ATV. Lots of cardboard "thingers" over the points that someone might come in contact with, and it was just sitting in the back of the UPS truck. $75 to ship to Utah from Massatuchests or however you spell it. THX-1138
UPS sucks bigtime try Fed-EX ground I have shipped huge items through Fed-EX ground that UPS would not even touch. I shipped items all over the world. the post office is the best for the small items, but for the big items like motorcycle frames I have found Fed-EX beats the shit out of UPS's prices and will ship the larger items that UPS will not. 50lbs frame boxed up and looked like a huge football from AZ to Ohio was like 40 bucks. the UPS people would not even try. that was the last time I was in the UPS office 2 years ago. AND: when I worked in a wherehouse shipping through UPS we had about 10 clames from UPS destroying our items we shipped and NEVER did they make good on the Ins. we paid on the item we shipped. erbilabuc
usps wil only ship if its in a box, if you put a banshee frame in a box it will be too big for usps to ship. This was my encounter with usps when i tried to ship my banshee frame through them and it was too big by like 15 inches but ups gives you an extra 30 inches over usps standards. THX-1138
usps wil only ship if its in a box, this is not true, I have shipped a 19 inch paddle tire through USPS with just a label taped in-between the paddles. no box at all. baybe you can just do this with tires, but I have done it more than once. Fed-ex ground is the cheepest way to ship large items.
