kryder
Just kicked it 4 times ni spark. 5th and 6th times had spark. What causes intermittent spark?
Larry's Shee
Ohm out all electricals, report back when done. Values are in the Clymers repair manual, or if you can find the pdf on here.
kryder
I just layed the plug on the head. Is that not a good enough ground?
locogato11283
I'm guessing the build up of oil is from the lack of spark. Have you checked to make sure the flywheel is seated properly and not loose? A loose flywheel will cause all kinds of issues. Once you've determined that the flywheel is not the culprit, then I would move on to the electrical. Have you checked the tabs that hold the coil on? they should be bare metal to help with grounding. Generally the coil is either good or bad, I've never seen an in between. The CDI can however produce intermittent spark.
kryder
Im about to insoect the stator and the electrical setup and i notice oil/gas is leaking out of the bottom of the motor. Looks like those bolts toward the front that go straight upward?
kryder
Stator looks like it prolly had water in it at some point but nothing is disconnected or broken?
kryder
And its like outta my motor not the pipe. Just put new gaskets and it fits fine.
O/CbansheeRider
It's seeping out carbs and running thru drain holes in case. Then fuel evaporates and leaves the oil. Both my banshees do it to some degree. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
kryder
Does it do this because i have been kicking it alot and its filling the case up with gas? And ideas on electrical?
hoppedupandcutdown
It's not leaking from the bolts, It's leaking off the bolts. Probably from the carb that is not feeding it's cylinder. Try switching complete carbs left to right and see if your problem follows. Also most stators look like that on bikes that are ridden in water, nothing leaking from the bike will cause that.
J-Madd
Could be sheared flywheel key or pick coil gap is too big.
SOUTHTHIRTY
Shake your flywheel. .. if it rattles try a different one
kryder
Flywheel keys look fine. What is the pickup spacing supposed to be? I also found out that the wire inside the plug wires was corroded and worn away. Switched carbs. Will run it later.
