Glorfindel
Hello, i'm a new Banshee owner, 2006, T5, sport porting, head shaved a little bit, 137psi compression, VForce 4., still on stock bore, no frame/electrical/suspension mod at all. The fist thing i will do is rebuilt the bottom (tranny bearings, seals and check the crank), but it's cold here in Quebec and i will wait a couple of month before doing so. Since i need to do something on it right now i decided to start my mods by doing a new timing plate. I dont know if this post is in the right forum, but for people who like CAO/CNC machinning, that should interest you ;-) This is what i use to measure the plate : I'm using Catia V5 for CAO and a DMG 5 axixs mill (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpydPwF3Kww) First step: unmount and measure it!! So, i will keep you in touch with the process and post some pic soon.
trickedcarbine
Killer, new level DIY. Are you modding the stocker or making a new plate?
Glorfindel
Killer, new level DIY. Are you modding the stocker or making a new plate? New, billet one from 6061T6. I will put pics of the entire process. Maybe a little vid of the CNC machining too ;-) I have a lots of projects for the Banshee (plates, impeller, hubs etc) Here is one of my last project, a 30cc engine case for a 1/5th scale baja. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/280x200q90/540/GI2qAF.jpg[/img Edited February 12, 2015 by Glorfindel

trickedcarbine
That's pretty friggin cool to. I had to let all Nitro stuff go. It was starting to eat up banshee funding.
Glorfindel
I have a little question. Stock vs sport porting+Vforce4+T5 = about +10 to 15hp?
trickedcarbine
Sounds pretty fair. Assuming porting would be pretty minimal. You could be around 60, maybe 65 range.

Glorfindel
Ok, first kind of an udpdate! lol! I disassembled the cover, foot peg etc, to discover (dumb me to not thaught about that) that i needed a puller! So, i will make a puller tomorrow. 27x1, left handed. Will put some pics, i think i will make it in aluminium.
trickedcarbine
No aluminum, I know it's easier to machine but the flywheel can really be on there and if you pull hard enough and tug the threads off your puller. Then you're stuck fishing it all out.
Glorfindel
Yeah, you're right. I will check if i had some 7075t6 by hand, if not, will do it in 1045.
Larry's Shee
What's your time worth? Considering you can buy one for less than $20. It's great that you can make shit. And considering I've had to whack the center bolt, I'd only use steel.
trickedcarbine
In a shop where there is equipment for threading already set up, I bet you could make one fast. In a pinch last year, I made one in about an hour with a huge nut and bolt. The nut just got turned down to eliminate the hex shape and get it down to a size where a dye could be ran over it. Glorfindel
Didnt finished it yet, i will check the thread before I know it's about 15$, but last time i ordered a 15$ thing on the net it cost me the double (taxes, shipping etc). Anyway, it's the first time i was doing left handed thread on our new semi auto lathe.
