arena314
I have an 03 banshee with fmf pipes uni air filter tors delete kit and vforce4 reeds pretty much everything else engine wise is stock. Got it in a trade and the guy said it just needed some tuning. So I tried tuning it and it was always acting the same so I decided to get a carb rebuild kit for it. It came with all stock jets so I rebuilt them and put the slides in started it tuned it and synced the carbs. It idles pretty well and revs up fine but when I run it down the street to see how it did it ran like crap. It smokes alot more out of the right pipe and it revs up really high but doesn't really hit powerband how it should it bogs while it revs out then when I took it back to my house it was idling really high and smoking alot out of the pipes but the right still smoked more. I checked the slides again and they were still in sync. The bikes been sitting for a month idk what it is.
wayne_smith97
Did you use the stock jets?
arena314
That's what I'm not sure about I ordered the carb rebuild kits online and I think they are just stock jets
hoppedupandcutdown
The jets in the kit will not be correct at all. See what it had in it, probably not right either but check. Are the slides in the correct carbs, not reversed?
arena314
The carbs are in right and if the slides go all the way down doesn't that mean there in right? And it idles and revs up fine its only when I ride it that it's messed up
wayne_smith97
The cutouts should be facing the air filters.
wayne_smith97
You should put some 310 mains and a 30 pilot and back the airscrew out 1.5 turns and go from there.
arena314
Isn't 310 a little big? And how come the bike is only effected when it's actual being ridden but not reved in nuetral? I was thinking it was the jetting but that part didn't make sense to me
wayne_smith97
Probably so but you will work your way down. #2 because the bike is under a load when your moving. It amplifies the effect of a bad tune. Use my bike for example. It was bone stock and ran like shit when I got it. 200 mains/25 pilot. As I tore it down when I got home and learned it had a k and n filter. That's all! No pipes, no aftermarket reeds etc. the banshee would would run and idle for days but once you took off down the street, it wouldn't do worth a damn. arena314
So you think once I jet it it would solve my problem?
hoppedupandcutdown
It will be a good start... What's your elevation and does it run an airbox lid?
arena314
And also why was it that when I brought it back to the yard after running Down the street was it idling so high?
sheerider11
Sounds lean. A leakdown should be done ASAP
arena314
Not sure what my elevation is and no airbox lid
hoppedupandcutdown
Get you some big jets and do a leakdown test and stop riding it before you melt it down.
