juan_carlos__007
Hello guys, yesterday after seeing several banshees bought one. It's pretty nice and everything made a couple of runs on the old owner's neighborhood and everything seemed fine. Today before heading to some trails here in AZ I downloaded a banshee owners manual because I needed help in mixing gas and 2 stroke oil and google gave way too many unreliable answers. On the owners manual it says to mix 2 stroke yamalube 24:1 and other castrol 2 stroke oils like R30 A545 A747 20:1 I bought Maxima Super M 2 stroke oil and mixed 2 gallons (128 OZ) with 12.8 OZ of this oil. On the trail my banshee just performed horrible while opening the throttle sounded awful like if the air intake was clogged or as if the throtle plates didn't open wide. While riding it just did not had the same power a dday before not even half the power. I checked the throtle without filter cover and filter and they oppened all the way up open. Theres two cables coming out of the gas throtle one which divides into 2 that goes to each carburetor and seemed fine and another electrical one that went to a pigtain on behind the steering shaft. The electrical wiring seems like it has been messed with some crimpiing and the ignition key switch was replaced they just did a poor job on it. This powerless problem could be a cause of faulty electrical bad wiring or bad gas oil mix? I'm really confused on this one, yesterday all fine and as soon as I aded my own gas today bad performance. Also very weirdl noticed that only when the steering bar was turned all the way to the left the banshee functions perfectly screeeeaaaams, but when returned to the center same powerless problem. Pasi S.
Because I don´t know your gallons and oz´s, I can´t say anything to that. I use liters. Most of the time I run about 3% premix. I put 0.3L oil in 10L of gas. I´m sure someone will chime in and help you with that. One common ratio is 32:1 with regular gas.One free tip is: Start reading! This site is full of good info. I think you can find a solutions for your problems. I´m sure 100% of them are covered here. In my opinion the "search bar" on this forum doesn´t work perfect. I use Google for that. Just type what you want to find and add bansheehq in the end - voilá!And welcome to the forum!!
sleeper06
Mix gas 32:1 -4oz to every gallon. Check all electrical connecting plugs clean and dielectric grease them look for frayed on worrn through wires I would post up pics of everything so we can see if anything is out of place
Larry's Shee
Check that the throttle cable isn't getting pinched or pulled. Disconnect TORS brain box, Left frame tube right by gas tank, 3 wire plug. Check any wires from handle bars or near steer stem for bare/pinch. See if you can find out from PO what he mixed at. Most on here will suggest 32:1 There is a reason Yammy suggests that ratio, but that's a different topic. Fuel/oil ratio can affect jetting. Don't be surprised if the Grammer Nazis come along and suggest breaking a long post into several paragraphs. BTW, welcome.
juan_carlos__007
I've been doing some research like I said I'm new with the whole 2 stroke and banshees deal. At first I thought that it was the T.O.R.S. but I think the old owner removed it since I remember seeing a lot of loose wires, he said there was some work done on the engine and those we're left over wires. I don't really think fuel oil mix ratio has to do with it because when steered all the way to the left the thing screams normally. When throtle lever is pressed a bit sound kind of normal but when pressed further in starts to sound just like this guys banshee on the video.http://youtu.be/HsAyG0qs7qk gorgling sound. Today I will dissasemble everything and do a picture walk through. Found a repair and maintenance manual on this forums of great help. Thanks for the welcoming guys. wayne_smith97
Look and see what wires are being affected when you turn your bars. Chances are the parking brake wire is being grounded out
turbowrenchhead
Eliminate the parking brake switch. Run a compression check. Its should be at least 125 psi. Get your mixture to 32:1 with a good 2 stroke oil. I've run super m with no problems. I've run different 2 stroke oils and they all perform the same. Pull your carb bowls and make sure you don't ave oil sitting in the bottom of them. Pull your jets out and check the sizes and clean them while your at it. Make sure you have the bowl with the double bump in it on the carb with the choke lever.
trickedcarbine
Look and see what wires are being affected when you turn your bars. Chances are the parking brake wire is being grounded outI'm with Wayne on this one. Take the air box or filters off and any plastic off the front. Start cranking the bars and looking at what's doing something funky. Could be a simple electrical connection, a wire that's bare, throttle cable getting bound, etc. Normal tune up stuff: -Clean carbs, figure out if jetting is appropriate. -change plugs -make sure the motor isn't eating coolant -inspect test electrical -ditch old fuel -check for air leaks - make sure electrical components and wires aren't laid all over each other. juan_carlos__007
Hey guys I'm here to let know that my problem wasn't only the T.O.R.S. Brake Switch. The bogging sound and loss of power issue was removed, but noticed that when I steered all the way to the left the Banshee kept on shutting down. The problem? the clutch cable kept getting caiught on a nearby bolt here pictures. I'm gonna check the Banshee repair manual and check if the clutch cable is routed properly and if it is I'll just add a pipe bracket onto that bolt to guide the cable.
