Root_Doc
Ok guys, carbs are clean, spark is bright, good fuel. Kicked her about a million times. Plugs are dry. It did weakly try to start a few times. Would i be correct to assume that when i put my compression gauge on, i will find my issue?
sheerider11
Yeah put the gauge on it. But you don't have to make a new topic every time. You can just go back to your old one and continue there. It'll be easier for people to help you diagnose.

Root_Doc
Gauge read 123 on one side and 121 on the other. Would these pressures inhibit the machine from starting?
sheerider11
No. That's plenty to start. Did you do a leak down? Are the reeds good? Are the pipes plugged? Correct spark plugs?
wayne_smith97
Is the choke tube in?
Root_Doc
I know I should have a leak tester, but I don't. What is a decent one that doesn't cost much
trickedcarbine
There is a thread here with a quick walk through on how to build one
Root_Doc
ok cool. I am using the correct spark plugs. New ones. Also realized that the gas that I had put in this has been sitting in the can for several months. Not sure, but im going to get fresh gas in the morning. Reeds look new. Carbs cleaned again, just to be sure. Will make a leak down tester. thx
Silverghost
if you have good spark then its got to be fueling or air and those issues are with the carbs. What happens if you try pulling it to start.... clutch in, 3rd gear, drop clutch when up to speed. if she fires up then the issue is with the carbs. salmon_slayer06
Are the plugs dry even when holding WOT? When starting a cold motor I turn gas on, twist open throttle couple times, slowly kick motor over about 5-6 times, maybe twist throttle once more, use the choke and kick over with no throttle. Starts on first kick. Really if pilot jetting is on the fat side, it will start without choke. But if pilot jetting is on the lean side it will not start very easy when its cold and will stall easy. Compression is there, plugs are dry, has spark.... not enough fuel. Edited December 28, 2014 by salmon_slayer06
