possum
What's easier? Removing all the case studs and replacing them with longer ones to run a 7mm spacer plate. With a 513 piston and 4mm 115mm rod crank. Or just run the right piston. dont ever do this, just as the thread title states. lol
tfaith08
sorry i dont recall seeing it. im curious to read all about it if you can point me in the right direction. then again i havent dug into many of the older threads. perhaps thats where it is ? theres plenty of absolute fact regarding window and tunell shape. if there werent we wouldnt have anything better than what we seen in 1985 When I said that you have some knowledge floating around, I meant that you had some knowledge. In this instance, I'm referring to you. Don't take offense. Also, the "facts" that you refer to are questioned heavily on a regular basis. alot of people tend to follow what everyone else does, whether its right or wrong, because they dont know any better if you look back to the pic i showed of the divider shapes, i said that i thought the V was a bad idea but i went on to explain a reason WHY i thought it was a bad idea. i have no 100% proof of my idea but i am very certain of what happens with a V shape I've experimented with the shapes. I've stated this before. The V shape will give you a little more power at peak and above and the rounded shape will give you a bit more power around and just below peak. You will not notice, I can assure you. Also, people tend to try what everyone else does because why in the hell would you not build off of other people's knowledge? You can line up the 5 configurations that K&T went through before they settled on their current one and I'd wager that 90% of people won't detect more than 1-2 things different between them. The difference are often pretty small with 2-strokes. Major differences commonly go undetected. You've obviously never ported a great number of cylinders because you'd know that you'll never really pick apart someone else's port work until you've been through a mega-shit-ton of trial and error. You can pick some knowledge up, but you'll never, EVER see the forest for the trees. At one point, I knew everything there was to know about porting. That was before I started porting. I didn't know that there were still questions to ask, nor did I know what they were. I began to question everything that I'd learned and I'm confident with what I know now. Am I gonna call out Cam or Jeff? No. Am I gonna discuss porting? Yes. I'll leave you with this: Forums are for discussion. Blogs are for telling people what's on your mind. If you don't want to have something you bring up thrown into immediate question, go start a blog. Edited January 1, 2015 by tfaith08
sleeper06
T faith this is why if u look in the sponsor spotlight I called registered user out to a build off or whatever ,he can name build dynamics even if he wanted to just port a set of cylinders and send them to someone to dyno I'm in or do a whole motor. I have a hard time with someone speaking in a gospel type manor about engine porting especially with no proof . Hey he might make more power than me . I wanted to do a documented build like press crank together yourself since he is rod expert should be no biggie , limit port duration numbers so technique comes into play , stock head or cool head either will work for me ship it to be dynoed I'm sure a site sponsor would hook us up . Now I'm no expert on porting or theory or rods but I'm willing to stick my neck out .
registered user
guess ill just quit my day job and have a build off with all you sad mofos. hell even if your not the guy building a single thing on the engine (like sheerider11), your still calling people out. what ever i guess. i hope to have something put together by the summer. -15* here right now so im in no hurry to turn frozen wrenches. when i got my junk together you folks will be the first to know. then we can have one big queerish dyno race day and a dyno quenn can be crowned. bansheeHP im not sure why you keep saying 7mm spacer. 5mm is all you would need. i remember back on another topic when a few guys said you werent no builder, now i see why. now i gotta go to work. you fellas have a good day and great new year
Dixie normus
You just keep digging your hole deeper. Just not smart enuff to see it I guess. Lol
BANSHEE HP
Your reasons for running the wrong piston on a long rod was to get away with doing it the right way. I.e. cutting 2mm into the dome run a 795 and run a paper base gasket... now you want to make the plate only 5mm, run the wrong piston and still cut into the dome 2mm. I don't care how you try to spin it, it's wrong. K&t never said let's build the dumbest thing we can to see if it works. Furthermore vitos used to sell the exact kit you need,"parts changer" long rod spacer kit. 5mm plate, 8 longer studs and 2 gasket for ppl that got a stroker long rod crank but we're either too cheap or too dumb to buy the corresponding pistons for there crank. tfaith08
One of a few things is going to happen. 1. You learn that you lack a shit load of information and come around to being a reasonable member. *Your streak of douchebaggery is never fully gone - it appears from time to time (Zilla) 2. You leave for a few months and come back with a new attitude (me) 3. You create another account with a user name that is nowhere similar to the current one. You then argue with yourself to make your "new you" look awesome (will likely be regurgitated from other members) and eventually delete your RU account. Everyone else thinks 2 members are arguing. (KOR) 4. You keep making asinine statements and lose all credibility - your correct statements will be assumed to be incorrect. You understand that your reputation has gotten this bad, so you try to mend things. This falls through and you leave the forum out of frustration. (Thacker) It doesn't matter to me, I'm through going out of my way to be nice to you.
locogato11283
I knew RU was dumb as fuck from day one. I wouldn't even waste my time responding to him.
sleeper06
I knew nothing when I joined this site I took the information learned and ran with it . I think I speak for most of us when I say we all have day jobs . I can't quit my day job either but I sure would have made time to see what your made of. It's cold here too,how much of a wrencher could u be if your shop doesn't have heat in it . Winter time is my busiest time with porting and motor builds . Either way let me know I'll be changing parts till your ready
registered user
I'm through going out of my way to be nice to you. hey bud ive never asked you for anything so dont flatter yourself by being nice to me. im grown and can handle what ever shit comments you wanna throw at me . speaking of asking for stuff, wasnt it you that not long ago was here asking about porting a honda ? couldnt figure it out or something. maybe it was someone else but for some reason it seems like it was you. now a few months later you a porting professional. hahah. run along back to gordon jennings book. if you wanna know a secret the latest version blair book is better bansheeHP at no time did i ever say i wanted to use a 513, or was going to use a 513 or had used a 513. all this piston bullshit started when i started asking about the new piston in the drivline thread. because the cp site lists different rod options for some of the cylinders i assumed the cylinders were cast with different height to accomidate which ever length of rod a guy chose to use. i believe it was rubber neck that brought it to my attention the fine print showed that theres just one generic cylinder casting and that either a piston with higher pin or spacer would need to be used. you nitwits just assumed i was already using a 513. wasnt long after that everything turned into a cluster fuck circus. i dont have a 513, never used a 513. need it explained any more clear than that ? sleeper you can keep changing parts, dont matter to me. my obligations cover a wide range, not just turning wrenches in a cold garage 24/7. its possible one day your engine will meet mine, although my crystal ball is broke so i couldnt say exactly what day, but when it happens the whole world will know who is the bestest and be awarded the prized crown of dyno queen
