jriffe23
As most of you know I kind of finished my previous drag build. That was my first ground up build. Anyways, I got to thinking about my next build and I know it is going to be a serval. Now with that being said, is a stock stroke serval available or does it have to be 4mil. I figure if I'm going to have to buy a crank for it and my options were 4mil and 10mil, I'm probably going to go ahead with the 10 mil. Now that I have a drag bike I want something with good power as I have found two place close to where I live that favor trail riders and one of them being and mx track. I'm just trying to get an idea of the start of the build. Probably won't start until summer although I have been looking for a blown up bike that is all there. If I had it my way, as I basically did on the drag build, I'm thinking 10 mil serval, pro mod trans and all the goodies in the lower end such as billet basket etc, v3 or v4 reeds, ported by a site sponsor, pipes I was thinking (pt (highs or mids) , cpi, shearers, SLP, maybe even pro circuits) also for carbs I'm think pwk 28 or 35s, would like some input on that. Also going after a good chassis, long travel front end with the podium x shocks off a polaris, +2 or a minus 2 swinger. Need help figuring that out, yfz front brakes etc. Any ideas from anyone are appreciated. The drag bike won't get rode as much as this but there is a good track here and a good set of trails not far from here. Please let me know what you think. Thanks! Burke
Buy Hummers and be done with it. You'll not only have an awesome bike, complete and ready to ride... but you'll be money ahead too.
jriffe23
Dont care about money, it will come a go. Not saying im made of money but my point is i want to build and eventually it will be done. Didnt expect my drag build to be done until the start of next riding season but the money came around and i had no issues. I understand what you all are saying but i stuck to my ways on the drag build so im going to stick to my ways in this one.
sheerider11
Stock cylinders for life!
jriffe23
Well looks like i going to end up buying my old trail pig back. A friend of my trade me his raptor 700 for my 450 and my trail pig banshee. Banshee ended up blowing up for a reason i cant seem to find out but i think it has to do with a crank separating. The rings are basically welded to the piston down the exhaust side, thats what leads me to believe that. I want to go 10 serval but i dont think i have the money, maybe i should go 392 pv or 4 mil serval?? Is there a such thing as a stock stroke serval? I know there is a stock stroke cub so why would that be a problem? Anyways its a super clean bike, its an 89 so its j arm. Im going to do stock length or -2 round swingarm, works shocks all the way around, possibly elka if i can find a nice set. But anyways bike blew up so im going to buy it off of him. He just bought 34 pjs off of me and traded the t5 for pro circuits, he also had it ported but doesnt want to put it together. Im getting a good deal on it so that will be the start of my next build. salmon_slayer06
I can't add much, sounds like you are already headed in a good direction. I don't know if Elka is still having that sale on the stage 3's but I would look into getting those before it ends. I would let FAST do the porting on the cylinders and get a NOSS cool head. I have a J arm banshee set up for the trails. Its just a good running 4 mil trail dune port motor with the Elkas as mentioned with a stock swinger, longer J arms. I had to clean the cylinder up this past summer from a lean issue and I'm on my last bore size. Its fast. But when a pack of 450 dirt bikes are in the mix I can't hang. Those damn things are the fastest machines on the trails. I did all the trans mods for easier shifting. I'm happy with the outcome. Its looking like I'll be needing some new turf tamers come next year though.
