MessyJesse69
So I ran my banshee for about 3 miles about 1 mile in it started making a strange noise intermittently I pulled in the clutch and it continued to happen intermittently maybe once every 500 feet. I dismissed it as the chain and babied it to my house. I put new chain and sprockets on and wheel and swing arm bearings. I start it up and I want to call it a different noise but it's definitely comming from the same place. Left side of the engine somewhere inside the flywheel cover I do believe. Checked the oil and it was low. I topped it off and started it up and it still makes it. It sounds like a high pitch rattLing/screech. Only other thing I noticed was when I put the chain on the sprocket seemed hard to move then would be easy then get tighter. I thought I was just pulling the chain at an angle and not straight back. The bike is making this noise in neutral pleae help
MessyJesse69
I can make a video tomorrow of the noise if it helps

MessyJesse69
Sorry I just spent all yesterday afternoon and this afternoon doing chassis bearings I figured I'd ask the forumn guys before diving head first. What kind of bearing are we talking here? Think I'll have to split the cases?
possum
flywheel might be spinning. pull it off and check the keyway, might have came out. And lap the flywheel before reinstallation
Surfrjag
Could also be a screw behind flywheel moving around. Take cover and flywheel off and inspect!
MessyJesse69
Pulled flywheel cover and started it. Sound seems to be coming from the inside of the case and in neutral the sprocket looks like it's trying to turn. I'm pulling clutch cover next to see if anythings loose. ANY IDEAS? MessyJesse69
www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_r2bIdOn88 Here's a video of the noise while the bike is off. I can make one of it on but it's basically the same noise just constantly and much louder
ETR174
Maybe bad chain roller
sheerider1026
Now wait a minute. In the shoutbox you said you ran it without any oil at all. And that it leaked all the oil out. Sounds like a tranny bearing. Pull the motor. Take apart. Inspect. Good time to do tranny and engine mods while it's apart.

landonwood20
My banshee started making some no so pleasent noises, it turns out the three screws that hold the stator to the timing Plate had rattled loose and we're catching on the flywheel. A little loctite and haven't had a problem since. Edited November 18, 2014 by landonwood20
