I'm going to disagree on the precision.

But you're right. Twist do not belong on quads.

We each have our preferences and experiences.

I've just found that I can control the throttle much more precisely, especially when it counts for controlled long wheelies or technical riding/manuevers.

I grew up twist, 86 tecate, ex factory bike, didnt understand why uncles 200x had thumb, Ive never had situation unless, I was switching back to twist, its personal preference, but totally disagree that twist doesn't belong on atvs. From what ive seen is most that don't like twist didn't grow up twist, or never had twist, ;)

  • 4 weeks later...

I did some wrenching on the bike today.

Do not get a honda throttle for some 39's.

That's how much metal i had to take out for the 39's to open all the way.

Honda throttle all the way, if you need you can go to the easy carb springs(you should have jacked off with right more often)

If you know how to ride a whoop section on a atv you'll know a twisty throttle has no business on atv.....I was in a pinch once and put a thumb throttle on dirtbike(don't ask) huge mistake....lol...I just wanted to ride though

With the cascade thumb throttle, and lighter springs in my 39s, I was pretty happy with my the feel of it.  Was there another reason you decided honda?hav

The carbs already have easier springs. I didnt like my cascade stock throttle extension since my thumb had to reach too far making me release my grip. I'm going to look for a stock thumb for cheap and use that. I cant do an aftermarket piece right now.

That sucks. Sorry that happened.

I guess we know the limits of the Honda throttle now.

Can someone explain how it can possibly be my error of the throttle not working? This is a quote from pm from a person who is the Honda expert or whatever who I will NOT name.

everyone i ever see looked and worked properly with no cutting. You dont have it put together correctly and there is no need to dremel out the side of it. Operator error. I put on on a blaster, 200x, banshee, kfx450r kfx700. Ive use LT250R throttles also. Never has any issues and been in the game 27 years......If you go not get the square to seat under the throttle pivot it will travel too far and cause what you see.

That makes no sense to me. The throttle was bought new. Due to mechanical limits, it would not open 39's. So I had to make the throw longer to increase its mechanical limit. I didn't mod anything before I tried to see if the carbs would fully open.

Out them.

I grinded mine. Wouldn't open my 35's all the way.

Pics of clutch cover, i love shiney shit.

Sure. I just finished installing it.

I forgot about modding the inside nipples from the front circular plate before installing due to the lockup. So i did that.

Then reinstalled new seals, gaskets and water pump bearing. That's buttoned up:

Then installed the cover, TQ'ed that down, then put on the brake master, brake pedal and foot peg then put the radiator hose on.

And that's it for this evening.
