trickedcarbine
Take it to the asphalt and see if it makes ya happy. If you wanna get it to the dunes and actually ride it around, you'll need at least a "dunable" over ride. Just depends.... Do you get your rocks off only going in short straight lines? Or do you wanna get in the tree shots and idiot holes? Maybe ride a trail or two?
Jason702v
Ya I think that's the route I'll go. The drag season is over anyway. I would like to do a little more than just drag it at the sand. I probably won't take it to the sand till next spring anyway so I thinknill tear it down in the meantime and put a more user friendly trans in it. Maybe a pro mod or something? I really wanna have the frame powder coated or painted anyway it needs it.
Jason702v
Can I send this transfer to redline or somewhere and have it made into a dunable override or do I have to just start over?
trickedcarbine
It's not a bad idea to tear it down anyway. It's the only way to really know what is goin on inside that thing and if the motor truely runs worth a damn it's better to just make sure the bottom is bullet proof. There is a bottom end walk through thread on here that is worth a peek. Things to think about: Crank and trans bearings Crank welded? Trans for your riding (CAMATV) Full C-clip on bearings that only have half moon clips. Or double oems. Clutch. Actuator arm to the pressure plate. Cable and lever. Quality seals. Jason702v
Ok I have the thing completely tore down to the frame to send out to powder. The question now is what to do with the trans. I will be 80% dragin this at sand mountain and say 20% just normal dune riding. For the racing I'd kinda like the 2-4 override but not so much for the rest. Question still is should I leave it or go with a different style? Should I go stock or durable override? Pro mod? Will the stock hold up? It's not a monster but still has 85hp and the stock trans was made for 35ish? I'm a millwright by trade can I do it myself or should I just ship it out? I'd like to let other guys ride it but the override seems too finicky and I'd hate to have a buddy shift it like normal and dick it up. What is the advantages of the other options? Lotta questions but I'd like to do this once right. Thanks again
