ryguy27
I just purchased a 2001 Banshee with FmF Gold Series Fatty Pipes, Power Core 2 Silencers, Pro Design Cool Head, V Force Reeds, Boost Bottle, and I have a few newbie questions. What would you all recommend for a fuel/oil ratio? Previous owner said he ran 50:1. It starts first kick and although i haven't put anytime on it, just up my lane seems to run good. Also it is low on coolant, what is the best coolant to run? Last and most stupid question is when starting do you use both chokes on each carb or just the left side? Sincerely appreciate the help! bluebanshee98
IMO anytime you buy a bike you should clean the carbs. Check the jetting, do a leakdown test and put new plugs in so after riding for awhile you can see how the plugs look. Some people use 32:1, 40:1 or I think I've seen people use ams oil at 50:1 if I'm not mistaken. Depends on the oil. Most applications are 32 or 40:1 for the most part
ryguy27
Okay, thanks for the advice. I have one other questions is 93 octane pump gas ok to run, I had the dealer do a compression test before I bought it and its around 175? ryguy27
Ok will do, can you use 93 octane and add a octane booster? What is the down side of running 93 octane with this setup?
ryguy27
Okay appreciate all the input.

trickedcarbine
If each carb has a choke you might have something decent. Are they Mikunis or keihin?
ryguy27
Keihin. Should I be using each choke ?
OutlawPat
Right on my Banshee it says 20:1 fuel mix. Just wanted to let you know
Skitso559
never heard of double chokes, thing sounds crazy, pictures please!
registered user
No need to waste that much oil. cool we got a oil expert around
trickedcarbine
You may be surprised how many guys are out there runnin alky 20:1. Guess that's different. OP, no you do not need both chokes. Maybe in extreme temp changes but for the most part my bike fires with just one pulled and almost immediately the other cyl is firing as well. registered user
theres no reason not to use a bunch of oil. urban legend cropped up a while back that new oils are so good you just need alittle bit. what a load of BS
oldskool
Klotz 32:1 with 110 octane or MAYBE a mix of 93/
ryguy27
Good deal. Appreciate all the advice. I am thinking on getting the domes switched so I can run just 93 octane pump fuel. I have been doing some research on here and that seems like my best option. Any opinions on this?
