350shee01
I recently picked up an 87 shee the other day, and I'm fixing it up. I changed the pipes on it and that's it. The old FMFs were shot so I put on a spare pair I had that are the exact same thing. Now it won't even turn over. Before I did that it started first kick every time. I changed the plugs, I checked the jets and everything checked out. So I'm seeing what you guys think it might be.
SAVAGE420
Accidentally bump one of the small coil wires off the side of the coil when doing the pipe change? (Happens if they're on the loose side) Or do you have spark right now?
350shee01
I've got spark, I'll have to check the coil wires tomorrow. I'm at work. Any other suggestions though I can look for when I get the chance?
SAVAGE420
Well if you have spark at your plugs, your coil wires are fine. Its probably just something dumb and easy. All you need is fuel, air, spark and compression for it to fire. Pet cock on and fuel in the tank. Key and switch on. Compression is probably fine if it started all the time just before. Basically just go over everything to eliminate one thing at a time.
350shee01
Yeah, most likely. At least I hope its simple ha. I'm going to check my petcock. Its been sticking. That might be it. Or it might have a short in the kill switch. It turns it on but doesn't kill it. So that might be it too. I'll check that tomorrow and get back to ya. 350shee01
I have a full tank of gas mixed at 40:1 in it right now. I always drain all the fluids when I get a new bike and put my preference and ratios of fluids in it.
trickedcarbine
If it ran and only had pipes replaced with identical pipes and were sure it's not a jetting issue it puts you in the electrical. It is gonna be something simple and stupid. Check ALL connections.
350shee01
Its my on/off switch. Its completely shot. And my fuel petcock is shot too. Wasn't getting fuel. So I ordered new ones and will be replacing them Wednesday or Thursday. I'm going to be going through all the electrical too.
