koneil38
I'm trying to search for a thread related to my issue, but it's taking to damn long. I started getting a mis-fire in the left cylinder, ran a compression check with throttle wide open, found 120 in the right, 50 in the left. Pulled carbs, head, etc. Found a tiny nick in the left piston, no scoring, gouging, etc. The reeds seem a little worn as well. Not completely closed. Motor is stock. Looking at a top end kit. From what I've read, Wisconsin is the way to go. So now my real question. Is there someone in SoCal that I can have the cylinders bored? I'm guessing it is wiser to have them bored, then order pistons, etc. Any other thoughts?
trickedcarbine
There are several shops in Cali that can help you out. Take a peek at the sponsor section on the homepage. It is best to have your machinist inspect the cylinders first before ordering pistons to determine how much the cylinder needs to be bored or honed in order to clean up any damage. Then and only when they have pistons in hand can they properly size the bores to the new pistons. Also, if it is an old stock motor, it's probably time to just do a total tear down. At least put new seals in the cases, new outer bearings on the crank and have it trued and welded.

BUILDER
Best thing to do is take cylinders to shop and have them measure them then let them order pistons or wait till he tells you what size he needs to bore it to then you order pistons and he will bore to that size. Plenty of good shops in Cali just do a little research on this site and you will find lots.
