The CPI will be fine for trails on the serval. The more you get from the guy you buy the motor from the more you will save. Loose the ricky stator.

What shocks are you going with? You don't want oem.

Get a roundhouse swinger

You'll also need a Billit basket, new inner hub and outer plate. Possibly lock up, HD clutch at a minimum.

Here's a random list of goodies to add if you're doing a full build up.

- New bronze bushing or needle roller in the small clutch basket gear

- kicker idler gear steel bushing and new clip

- water pump o- ring and clip

- new case dowels, and cylinder dowels

- folding lock washer for the Clutch hub 32mm nut and sprocket nut

- additional clips or full clip for bearings in trans and on crank

- rear case vent if yours is trash

- clutch cover vent block off

- water pump rebuild. Impeller, bearing, seal.

^ what old school said haha, dont turn this into the trinity page just yet haha. cheers for the replies so far, so the questions i have to your replies are

  • is a lock up necessary or dose a HD clutch do the trick ?
  • ditch the ricky stator and go OEM ?
  • why is a roundhouse swinger better than stock carrier?
  • if maier plastics fit like shit what other options are there? i am wanting the factory look.

the other option is to build up a rolling frame and wait untill a motor comes up for sale just like what Sprinklerman had forsale. only thing with a 2nd hand engine is the fact that its 2nd hand. could always send my cases over to kan or fast or redline etc and say build a motor and send it over etc but yeah..

Lock up would definitely be prefered, but if the motor makes anything over 80hp, you'll need one.

Definitely OEM stator, or race tech. Just google "Rickey stator bansheehq"

A round house swinger is way easier to adjust and keep it right.

Maier is definitely hit or miss. There are a lot of really cool aftermarket companies. Full bore is making another run. That would be ideal. If not there are a lot of really nice aftermarket hoods out but no many options out back. Otherwise there is a lot of nice used stock stuff.

Only buy second hand motors that are very well documented. Sprink's is a good example.

If you don't wanna do all the assemble it, it maybe in your best interest to have a builder do it for you. There are a few who get motors shipped properly and headache free.

cheers dude, ive got no issues assembling the motor but if the cases will need modifying etc to match the cylinders then thats another problem too. just a shame that everything i want is on the other side of the world, maybe just pack my tools up and find a job in the states and move over is easier haha
