AWebsterMX
I was looking into getting a banshee(trading) and the owner says it runs great just doesn't shift into gear and needs a clutch cable, can it be the clutch cable or is it more than that? Also anything I should look out for? Thanks anything will help.
hoppedupandcutdown
Clutch cables are $12 and easy to install. If he hasn't put one on it to fix the problem the quad better be SUPER cheap. Clutching and shifting are two totally different things. You can visually inspect the cable easily. Anything else will be internal. Or at least under the clutch cover. Heck, if the cable IS bad, and the swap is that good and you want it, If I were you, I'd buy a cable and install it so you can ride it to check everything else. AWebsterMX
Yeah, I was thinking about just trading but then again I don't want to be in a money pit. It's looks pretty clean and is mostly stock(milled head,Aftermarket axle and FMF exhaust system). Anything I should look out for before trading? Also do's and don't as a banshee owner? I heard there a little picky on fluids but can last awhile if you take care of them.
hoppedupandcutdown
Compression test is a smart move. I always look for rounded off, stripped, or missing bolts. Always best to be able to ride it.
trickedcarbine
Could..... Be the clutch cable. More then likely something like the claw on the shift shaft, shift shaft eccentric adjustment, possibly even clutch basket and hub wear. I'd plan on just over hauling everything under the clutch cover. Not a big deal. Do it all once and never worry about it again.
Starwriter
Could also be a welded clutch ball. The clutch cable could have been down to the last strand, and they reefed on it with the welded ball. I hope whatever you're trading to him is worth no more than about $1400max. And that's assuming he has a title for the Banshee.
