Banchetta
I don't see my name on that list!!!! You think I was joking???? Count me in....My friend Danny is all about it to...I've just been busy. I'm leaving tomorrow to go to a Carribean Cruise for a week so I've been consentrating on that...Once I get back, I'll be thinking about this trip and will get the plans worked out..Walter, I know you like to plan 4 months in advance. I usually plan in 4 days or less and just go... I'll try to get everything going here asap so we can figure out what we need and if we should just rent another mh or share a large one.....Is your wife willing to share w/ Danny and I or will that be too crowded?? If its too much then we'll get our own..no big deal..
Cotton eyed Joe
COOL PICS! Thanks for the link Deuce. It looks like The Knolls, just out side of Wendover, on the Utah side. Dunes, and some hard pack dirt/salt and some soft packed, but no paint/headlight/knee/eye/head damaging rocks. The swingarm I'm having welded TOMORROW (finally!!!) isn't going to have a skid plate mount. SO I've got to bone up on my LEFT! RIGHT! LEFT! RIGHT! skills, until I get skid plates made. Well, that and the $400 in chrome I have on the front end of my bike........
banshee370
Sheesh... Some action on this topic today Yep theeechozen1, I'm gonna be there. I don't have B370's senior executive bankroll, heh, Ben: Senior executive bank roll? Where? Only way I can afford this trip is to plan way in advance. Still not real sure where the hell Dumont is at...need to look at some maps... Here is a map for ya! I would say its where the "star" is hehe Dumont Map!! Stan: Question about the desert running. My banshee is pretty much going to be a trailer/sand queen when I get it done, and I really don't want to ride on rocky terrain.... The swingarm I'm having welded TOMORROW (finally!!!) isn't going to have a skid plate mount..... My shee will be a trailer queen too... but I'm not afraid to give it a lil hell every now and then. I run no skid plates either. Ya just have to watch where the hell your going Banchetta: Not to worry. Your name will be on the list tonight I havent had a chance to get much done lately myself. Have fun on the cruise while all of us are freezing our asses off shoveling snow! As for the m/h.. I just reserved ours the other day. I can give them a call to see about upgrading to something larger. I'll talk to the wife and see what she says about sharing w/ more ppl Blue_duece: Great link/pics! I have a lot of respect for desert racers. Dont get me wrong, the MX guys have a shitload of talent, but you need a set of nads the size of a grey hound bus to do 100 mph+ at night. A local guy for me has been doing the Baja for many years (trucks & buggies).... Some of the stories he would tell me just made me wonder wtf this man had for brain cells left. Its something I'd love to see and whitness but I'll pass on attempting myself Anyone else ready to dune???? 89 days, 15 hours, 57 minutes, and 21 seconds left until ROOSTFEST 2004 Dumont.. and I'm NO where near ready! Motor is all apart (down to bare cases) Plastic is not even prepped for paint yet... and I still have to schedule the shipping.
Banchetta
Let me know on that shipping to Walter...I still have to pull my shee apart and rebuild her before I go, I'm thinking of getting some high rev headers also...lets see what the Pt high revs have got.... Blue Duece
paint/headlight/knee/eye/head damaging rocks. i was gonna just bring my 22" bear claws, and pull those heavy pigs for the sand and dirt, but now i think ill bring some holeshots in case i sneak out in front of you, thoose 22's kick up apple size rocks, do you own a chest protector Stan?, for christ's sakes every chance i get i raze you, im sorry buddy, ill cut it out...for real, the queens ride side by side to avoid getting rocked..... alot of us have goodies we dont want getting dinged up we all just show eachother respect and not jump on it when we have to ride single file, that shit hurts like hell at 50mph and sometimes in the dust you have to either stay right on your buddies ass or well out of his cloud, ill bring cans of fix a flat and portable air tank, if by the time we go you havent gotten aarm gaurds ill send ya a set, but bolting them bitches up ding and chip your finish more than the little rocks do, your stock rear would be fine also, ive gone without mine and never bent a rotor or sprocket, but im with Walt when i start riding into jagged shitty shale i just fuckin turn its that simple.... Cotton eyed Joe
LOL!!! I'm cool with the razzing Deuce. The LAST time I ever rode a trail was over 2 years ago (well, almost 3), it cost me both head lights, and most of the powder coat on the front end of my banshee. Not to mention my chest, knees, etc. I decided this time, if I ever get this thing finished, I'm going to ride the hell out of it, but no more trails or mountainous terrain. Its gonna be one of those sand bikes you always see, in the sand. But hell, I've been hit by rocks the size of a fist at the base of Sand Mountain before. Hit me right in the face mask of my helmet. LOL about a 60mph rock.
banshee370
Banchetta: Since your shee is much shorter than mine you could get yours shipped round trip for around 600.00-700.00. As long as it will fit inside a crate that the Maximum inside dimensions 61"L x 44.5"W x 44"H . One other tip... give that baby a wash too! Make sure the radiator is clean too. I know someone that went from Pa to Cali and burnt up 3 top ends before he realized that his radiator was plugged solid w/ mud Duece: Im not afraid to get roosted or to get my shee dirty. I'm going to have fun.. not be some priss I've never ran skid plates in the past 10 years. When I had my rear skid it would get beat to shit, since I removed it... I just watch where I ride and dont have any problems. I guess Stan is just old and cant move as fast I feel sorry for old people

LOL about a 60mph rock. ouch!!! yeah those are those granny trails i was talking about, better left for donkeys and fourstrokes, we will be out in the "great wide open" (hey thats a tom petty tune aint it?) but theres lots of fun stuff besides the dunes......oh shit i forgot about the first annual dumont dirt drags, maybe if i can beg steal or borrow it my local pals at action motorsports will part with there hand held radar gun..... im not into rock climbing either stan my bike goes to damm fast for that kinda riding, i was planning on riding from my house out there about a 60mile run, but my friend with the modified jeep for bringing fuel and provisions is getting married christmas and wasnt sure if he could make it yet, in other words "no i cant go im a pussie now" so if im driving, im brining the bbq, steak, dogs, burgers, beer, guns, i make a wicked chili, thats has to be chased with 34 degree bottled beer.......theres also race gas right here in town i run the 120octane its 8.50 a gallon and they have 110 i think its 4.75....il bring extra with 927 @40:1, but wont mix 10 gallons in case someone runs out, and will be willing to make at least one run into town for more booze, after that the sober guy is welcome to use my truck for runs also.....and my cell phone works there so if someone does get hurt we can get help, the rangers are cool but will sometimes check registration only cali residents have to worry about that and sometimes frame and engine id's, lookin for hot quads...... Listen to me, I'm sounding like a child in a little sand box.... In actuality, I'm a child in a BIG sand box..... When I had my rear skid it would get beat to shit i hear ya Walt, how can that be, when i run a skid it gets the shit dinged out of it too, i think they attract rocks if ya ask me........wow is that shipping price both ways?.....Banch what if you grabed a pal or two rented a trailer and came out wouldnt tha be cheaper for you? i know its a long ass drive are you going to drive and ship the bike?... I'm flying out....Cost me around $400 round trip for air fare....$1000 for the shee and me.....I think Cali is over 4000 miles from Maine....At 17 mi/ga. for my duramax. It'll cost me around 400 bucks for fuel going one way....so $900 both ways for fuel not including wear and tear on my truck or taking an extra week off of work to drive down there.....It'd probably take me 3-5 days to get there and another 3-5 days to get back......I'd be spending more time driving my truck then the shee... Deuce, I'm a lllllooonnnngggggg ways from you buddy.......Maine is called "the other world"...

banshee370
banchetta: I'm not saying it was filthy.... and were all not going out for a banshee show & shine. But it's a good thing to throw some water and soap at it every now and then. Hell.... Johnny wanted to wash it for ya, he felt bad for it and he hates banshee's And no your shee didnt look that bad! 600.00 isnt bad for shipping... I just wish my shee was 3" shorter Since you run +2+2 a-arms you will have to ship the shee w/o tires & rim mounted. I am making a small jig for my shee to sit on that will bolt to the hubs. That way I will fit the width and lenght. You may need to do the same. As for jumping comp... hehe Lets just say I'd like to see it Ive been told by many people that Dumont is mostly razorbacks so I'm sure jumping wont be a problem! Duece: I dont think rocks are attracted to the skids.... I think its all a mindset. With a skid plate most people dont think twice about hitting a huge rock. I went to a state forrest in western PA a few years ago. I was told skid plates are mandatory. It was just about rock crawling more than riding. I ran no skids and never had a problem. Almost like banging a chick w/ a jimmy hat... You think your safe but your really not. It may sound and look expensive to make a trip out west like this and it is... Its just cheaper to ship then drive. And if you have ever seen the way Banchetta drives... it would cost him 2000.00 in gas, another thousand or two in tickets (if they let him keep his liscense) but he would get there in about 2 days. He was close though... Its only about 3000 miles for him
