Blue Duece
Duece: Whats 200' when your already up 1000' for me it's the difference between coming down with clean drawes or not.......im gonna round up a few locals and see if they wanna ride from here to there, if i buy the beer i have a friend that will carry provisions in his rock crawler and follow us out, its fairly close as the crow flies or the banshee in this instance.......... Banchetta
He was thinking of Alba also. I'll talk to him about that also..Thanks for that info...Right now I just have cheap sand devils. V-shaped. But fairly new....The -2 swingarm is fine as long as I'm rolling, I just have a hard time w/ the paddles if we are dragging up the hills from a dead start at the bottom of the hill.....Or do you guys think this will still be a problem on those bigger hills??? If I have to, I'll put my shitty stocker back on....
Cotton eyed Joe
Honestly, I wouldn't run a -2 in the sand, but then again, I have never ran a shortnend swing arm, so I don't know how it reacts exactly. I run a stocker, and soon probably a +2 or +4. Sand hooks up really well. Almost like asphalt if the conditions are right.
Justintoxicated
That drive sounds far but I'm down to go as long as I can when teh time comes. With the college situation I won't know for sure untill much later. I just have a tent, and a small trailer, would you guys mind if I brought a couple friends with me? My GF will want to go too of course.
theeechozen1
I'm still down to go and I will have a few friends going with as well, couple shees and couple rap-turds, small enclosed trailer and with any kind of luck a toyhauler. Hopefully I can get Benbb to join up and caravan too. Should be an awsome time I've been wanting to go to Dumont for a long time and just keep going to Glamis year after year
sean10
Duece, what cell phone carrier do you have that your cell phone works out at dumont! We all have cell phones out there with different carriers and none of them work--The jetting is almost the same from Glamis to Dumont. I never reject when i go to either place. Just bring alot of blankets if your sleeping in a trailor because last weekend it got down in the 30's and the heater had a hard time keeping us warm! SO WHENS THE DATE OF THE TRIP??? Pepper
I just got back from Dumont, my cell doesnt work there either(ATT) ,out of 4 phones only one worked and I dont know his service provider... I dont come on this forum often but would like to join you guys up there, thats my second home in the cooler months and Ive been riding with way to many 4 strokes...For those coming thru vegas theres 2 routes from here, one takes you through baker calif. the other through tecopa calif. the tecopa route being about 45 min shorter. The down side is the tecopa route has approx 50mi of narrow 2 lane highway but the traffic is almost non-existant.You should grab any supplies you need in Vegas and if you do need to refill your water supply for extended trips Baker is approx 30mi from the dunes.... Justintoxicated
I hear ya on the choice, Glamis/Gordons/Buttercup is about 3 times closer and 3 times warmer, but I stillw ant to find another place to ride so I know where to go when the imperial sand dunes get compleatly and permanently closed. (as they have been slowly closing over the years)
theeechozen1
i heard that they are opening up a big section of closed dunes...just a rumor? I hope they do after raising the fees to $25 per truck!!!

Cotton eyed Joe
Baker California was mentioned as a close town to the dunes, but is there a zip code or anything near or around the dunes so I can map quest this thing?? Personally I can't stand Vegas other than whats on The Strip, so I would need to take my final stop in Mesquite, or pass on to another town.
